Drive to see Dh is 132 miles round trip.....so a bit of an ordeal. I usually take the old highway as the interstate along the route is a truck route and I have never liked ( though hats off to all those who drive the trucks and do it safety in all kinds of weather and road conditions ) to drive when there is a multitude of trucks. Seems just as easy ( not quite as fast ) to take the old highway....not much for traffic and leave a bit earlier. I'm going every other day for now and trying to keep up with as much as I can here. At our house....there are always ( standard when you are a multiple cat and dog keeper ) many extras to keep up with. I'm fortunate that my job is in general only part time.
It is turning into some weariness and I have hopes that some answers will be forthcoming today. Not much was happening on Monday since it was a holiday......so we hope for today.
Probably will get our heat and humidity back for part of today. Bren -- decided I just couldn't keep the rain all to myself.
See you all later.

C4C - just heard that disgusting "comment" on CNN - the insanity just goes on and on......so sad.

Jackie .. that is quite drive. That's how for the trip was for us to Baptist Hospital in NC when Tim had his surgery, and my old friend Brenda would get treated there. I didn't mind the drive. There was only one section of road about 20-30 miles long where it was only a two-lane road and full of truckers. It's the only route from Winston-Salem to my area of Virginia.
I was lucky when Tim was in the hospital cause my sis drove down to feed me dogs dinner for me. It's really hard when you don't have any help.
Carrots ... nothing from the "right" shocks me anymore. But I find myself much less tolerant of their bullshit as time goes by. Tim starts going on and on about some damn story he heard on Fox news and I just want to scream.
I cut back a huge azalea that was really woody a couple years ago. I was so afraid I had killed it, and it was way too big to dig up. The roots extend about five feet in all directions. It finally got a few flowers on it this year. It's never gone back to the way it was when it was huge and glorious.
Sandy ... it's great to see you!
hugs,
Bren

Well, here's something with a big right lean going on --- Mr. Phil -- who knows it all. Hobnobbing with the party elite. A real classic for that side. Pile on the stupidity, please.http://www.addictinginfo.org/2014/05/28/phil-robertson-rlc/

Bren, My hanging baskets ( 3 ) are very small, cuttings from ivy leaf geranium I over wintered indoors, nasturtiums from seed, and they're so covered by heavenly blue morning glories by end of year, birds can nest in them ;-)
Heard Joe da plumber ( giving all plumbers a bad name) and he is another "gift" from the Tundra Tart. Hope his words are repeated often in 2016.
Gardening - well, on hold here, as it's 45 degrees. That is not a typo. 45. What's left of the mind boggles. Thank goodness sungold tomatoes are getting leggy on the south facing window sill, and will be planted even DEEPER this year, as roots do grow from all those little feathery thingies on the stem, should have quite a root base.

Blue, I like all the pictures, but especially the last one. I was about to say that I didn't know if I would believe this article, but I actually think something similar has been in before. http://www.addictinginfo.org/2014/05/28/well-this-explains-gun-nuts-distrusting-people-are-dumber/

Happy almost June everyone - maybe Spring will come then???

This has been a truly strange year, weather wise. I'm afraid when it finally does warm up, it'll shoot up to 110 or so.
Anyway, Jackie, hope your husband is doing better.

Dh was taken over to Barnes Hospital yesterday for tests and scopes that can't be preformed elsewhere. Barnes is about 75 or 80 miles west of here, across the river and into St. Louis, Missouri. It is a big teaching hospital connected to Washington University. Current thinking is that the gall bladder issues may be stemming from a cholesterol cyst/stone that does not show up in regular testing and once that is gone......the gall-bladder may take back off and function as it should. Sigh !!!! Seems like it has taken some time to reach a point of SOMETHING being done. I've never been known for my patience. I do feel that we have always had wonderful care at the V.A. center we use and they have never hesitated to SEND us out to outside facilities that were 'better' than what they could provide in-house.
The procedure should take place today. Hate not being able to be there, but I know that he is in good hands at Barnes. I'm still saying my prayers and will be glad to get word later on as to how things went. I'm sure you will all keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Jackie, so sorry for all your DH (and you) have been through! Hopefully this will be resolved soon, and he'll be home peacefully recovering. Barnes is a great hospital.
-
Jackie, I hope today's procedure sets everything right and your DH is home with you soon.
-
Jackie, your plate is MUCH too full at the moment. Do take care of yourself. I'm sure the docs at Barnes will get to the root of the problem, fix it, and send your darling DH home pronto. Just hang in there, sweetie! We're all thinking of you.
-
Jackie, hugs. Hope your DH comes through with flying colors and all problems are resolved.
-
Jackie, Ditto what everyone else said.
Isn't he adorable....
-
Jackie - sending hugs and best wishes to you and dh - we lived in St. Louis in the 80s and my dh was treated at Barnes for a heart problem - it is a terrific hospital hope your dh is home soon.
-
ah, Blue, adorable is definitely in the eye of the beholder
Jackie - wow, what stress for BOTH of you. Hoping all is resolved for DH quickly, even faster HEALING.
-
-
Jackie - just catching up. Sorry to hear of your husband's medical issues. Hugs for you.
-
Jackie, it sounds like your dh is getting the best care possible. Make sure to take care of yourself too!

Just a little something I ran into:
Ted Cruz Plays The ‘Religious Persecution’ Card Yet Again byJustin Rosario • May 27, 2014 • 0 Comments
I wonder how Ted Cruz has time to fund raise be a Congressmen what with all the time he spends fund raising up on his "Oh woe is me, the poor persecuted Christian!" cross. At a fundraiser conference last week, Cruz shocked the audience by fund raising claiming that Democrats were going to get rid of the First Amendment! And then he asked for donations:
But then it became clear what he was talking about: Senate leadership is planning to hold a vote on a constitutional amendment overturning the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United decision and rulings in related campaign finance cases such as this year’s McCutcheon case, which have steadily eliminated the limits on election spending by corporations and wealthy individuals.
Citizen’s Unitedwas a tremendous victory for the right wing and the GOP damn well knows it. After all, the people most interested in keeping the Party of the 1% in power by buying elections are coincidentally the same people that benefit most from unlimited campaign spending. Funny how that worked out. But what to do about all this rampant populism that threatens corporate interests? Even with all of the money the Koch brothers have poured into the Tea Party, a strong (and presumably unapproved) theme at TP rallies is "get money out of politics."
The solution? The same thing the GOP always does when their core message (More Money In Politics!) is toxic: Tie it to religion! Duh!
What? Did you think Cruz actually thinks overturning Citizens United would suddenly strip right wing pastors of their right to spit on the message of Christ every Sunday? Nope! He knows that the best way to get conservatives to vote against their own self-interest is either to appeal to their racism (not a clear option here) or pretend that their religious freedom is "under attack." It’s how they’re going after Obamacare and it’s how they’ll fight to keep as much money in politics as possible.
The cynical abuse of religion would be nauseating if I wasn’t so used to it by now. ‘Murika

Long day here and finally this evening an US. Hoping that will help a lot to get the process ( no breakfast in the morning ) going on everything else tomorrow and maybe get Dh home by late afternoon....sans the blockage. Otherwise, I came home from work and took a nap. Something I rarely do, but just felt done in. Feel much better now and just enjoyed a late supper.
Great pouring down rain which seemed to have finished. Good. It has been trying to pour here for a couple of days and just causing humidity. It should be nice for a bit.
