Question about the under armor shirts you are all wearing.  Do they have to be long sleeved?  The hot, sweltering summer is coming, and even the slightly milder temps are making my arm itchy and irritated under my compression garments.  (I am sensitive to that sort of thing).  Would love to try something else.

I have had lymphedema for about 6-8 months now..I work at a hospital where I always wear my sleeve due to the swelling. Lately I have had this tremendous pain in this arm, I can't move it at all w/o overwhelming pain. Has anybody had this same problem? Is this pain a symptom of the lymphedema? What else can I do and will it continue to get worse? I am worried about this...Heidi

believe that acupuncture is not recommended for people with LE. Can anybody confirm that?

It is controversial. There are in fact some people who have tried it.  I *personally* would never let anyone stick me with anything on the LE side!

glennie, how do you get the swell spots to stay in place?  I've tried it without much success. But my swelling is in a difficult place. Right in front of armpit, mostly, and a little down around and onto back.  The pads just slide down.

Jennie, my problem area are under my arm and around my scar. So I'm tucking the swell spots in my bra. That is mostly working for me.  I'm experimenting with different shapes of swell spots.  The "breast" one actually covers all my problem areas but it a little too big and rather thick.  I can't wear it with my normal 34 bra but it seems to be ok with a 36 bra.  It's not perfect but I think it's helping.

The other spots I've tried are the oval ( looks like a mini-pad) and the palmar.  The oval was the first one I tried. I put it in my bra under my armpit and it really made a big difference. Then I got the palmar to put right over my MX scar.  If the palmar was a little bigger, it would be better.

So I'm alternating between these two. The breast one seems to be better but gives me bra issues. Oh and it's SO thick I can't wear my prosthesis with it or my left side looks much bigger!! And it sticks out of my bra so I have to wear it when I'm wearing a tee shirt for full coverage.  My other option is easier to conceal.

Its really quite the process to figure this out.  No one in my area carries the spots so it's all been ordering online and self-experimenting.
