Black Spots on Nipple and Areola

I am almost seven weeks out from my last radiation treatment. A few days ago I noticed a blackish/brown spot right in the center of my nipple as well as a raised area the same color on my areola, directly under the nipple. I emailed my BS yesterday, but because of the holiday weekend, I have yet to receive a response. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this as a SE from radiation? I had an appointment last week and pointed out a pretty big pimple that developed under my arm after rads, but they determined that was just a big pimple and it has gone away almost completely. The dark color of this area has me concerned. I'm hoping this is a common SE from radiation treatment. Has anyone else experienced the same thing? Thanks in advance for any responses.

    Well darn it Slow, no one seems to have any experience with this.  Like you, I got a few big pimples same time as you and stopped using cream for awhile as I thought that may have contributed.  I have no experience or knowledge about the spots.  Hopefully someone will have something to contribute or your BS will provide a response soon.  Let us know what you find out.

    We aren't qualified to make a judgement but I would advise that you try to see a dermatologist.  Can't be too careful.

    Call your Rads Dr NOW!  A referral to a Dermatologist may be the next step but find oit what is going on.

    No one here can DX that.

    Thank you to all that responded. I realize no one can diagnose me other than my doctor - I was just curious if anyone had experienced this as a side effect of radiation. I emailed my BS as well as my RO and MO. Thanks again for the input.

    TB90, You asked me to let you know what I found out regarding the spots. My RO emailed me and said this is a typical SE effect from radiotherapy. He said the spots will fade over time. I was very relieved to read the response.

    Slow:  Thank you so much for letting us know.  We had rads at the same time and as I also had some pimples, I may just end up with some spots too.  Glad you can let that one go and get on with better things.  Take care!
