Sorry that so many Chrisie, Wilsie, Barbe had furbabies pass so recently. The missing is easier after a while, but they aren't forgotten
Okay Chrissy have an uneventful trip to the city
Chrissy once all this rigamerole is over if you want to learn how to do a link let me know. But I understand if you don't. I have no interest yet to learn anything about update cell phones. Just not important to me. If that makes sense?
SoCal Yay I saw your pics in W&F's thanks.
Have a nice holiday everyone

Hey everyone, I've just caught up with the last two pages. I've been busy taking care of my DD. She is the talk of the ortho area. First that they operated so late and then because she had so much work done. She had so much scar tissue in there. He did two micro fractures so she'll be on crutches for 8-9 weeks. We are staying in a studio with a kitchenette. I have to drive her to PT twice a day. She is already on the bike and doing very well. She always amazes me with her perseverance.
Today I went for a hike while she was in PT. It is very pretty here. The altitude is a little much, tho. I was panting toward the end. But I am so much better at breathing out here. I saw this sign. lol
-
Wilse, I am so happy about your scans. Now you can celebrate spring and new growth!!!
Chrissy, so sorry about your kitty. It is so hard to let them go even when we know it is best.
sas, carole, socal and aly have a great weekend.
I am not even sure which day it is anymore. I'm living in caretaker mode.
-
Nancy, it's great that your DD is doing so well this early! Already on the bike? She obviously wants to make this recovery as short as possible! I'm glad it's working out for you both. BTW, I've never seen a beaver crossing sign!
Wilsie, I love where you're planting. We have some daylilies too and they multiply like mad. I like them.
DH got the rest of the garden planted yesterday. We do a rather small one, with peas, green beans, peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Already getting onions, green peas, broccoli, and chives. There's nothing better for lunch than a tomato sandwich from a just picked tomato!
Chrissy, your knee replacement will be done before you know it and you'll be recuperating. It's good that you have a busy week ahead and I hope all goes well. Will be thinking of you through this week, your surgery, and beyond. And still thinking of you and the loss of your cat. For a pet to be in your life that long is amazing. One of our cats was put to sleep at 19 (my dear Boris) and I still miss him.
Hope everyone has a happy rest of the weekend.
Kathy
-
Big hugs Chrissie she was such a sweetie cat and you wil miss her even though she drove you crazy with her demanding ways. She would forget she had been fed as soon as she has eaten. But she did know where her comfy spots were.
Have a lovely photo of Chrissy's cat but it is on my home computer.
About to leave for the UK to visit a friend for a few days.
-
Chrissy, it's so hard to lose a pet you've had for so long - especially a cat (said the lady who's crazy about cats).
Mac, I'm glad your daughter is doing so well after her surgery. I must have missed something because I don't remember why she needed this surgery. Are you comfortable telling us why?
I'm going back and forth with my own worry. My youngest DD (she's 20) found a lump in her breast. PCP sent her for an U/S and they did a core needle biopsy and we're waiting for the answer. I suspect part of the reason for the recommendation for biopsy is me. I know at her age it's not likely to be BC but, you know, she's my baby. So I worry.

Barbe - I know it is so hard. Our first Hannah has been gone for five years and I still have her favorite toy on my clothing shelf. She was a great dog. Pets are a wonderful addition to life.
I have been reading a lot of books about our wars and just finished up "Band of Brothers" for the third time. I wrote this in contemplating the many lives given. I am never sure that our government sends our young men and women for good reason but I am always sure that they believe in defending what they believe in.
I wrote this sitting on my porch.A Reflection on Memorial Day
I have lived close to war; not in the midst of a brutality that I can only imagine and not in a sanitized way that comes like the morning paper clean enough to wrap a newborn in. I have seen broken bodies unloaded from airplanes or lying in hospital beds. I have seen old eyes in young faces and I have heard the cries of men who were boys just a few weeks before.
Today I sit on a cool porch and look out on green grass warmed by a brilliant sun. Above me is a blue sky painters can never quite copy. I am surrounded by trees that still show a hint of the varied greens of spring. I see flowers; some cultivated by my own hand and others - wild, hardy survivors that pop up in unexpected places just to please my eye.
There goes a bluebird, an oriole, a red-winged blackbird, a finch. Whose song is that? And that?
A dragonfly just flew by and a hummingbird on his way to the next flower.
All of this on a Saturday afternoon, on the land that I love, preserved for me by the blood of countless sons and daughters.
I breathe in the wonderful air and breathe out an inadequate “Thank You”.

That was beautifully written BB! Send it in to your local paper so you can give words to others feelings. Seriously.
I saw this on FB, and though I am not American, I, too, thought it was beautiful: (for some reason I can post pics from FB)
Mac, your daughter`s determination is inspiring!! On a bike already?????
Leah, your daughter has moved up to the top of my prayer list - please keep us posted. I cannot imagine your mental torture right now......hugs to you. And understandable that you do not recall that mac`s daughter is in for a hip replacement. You have certainly enough on your mind...
I can still produce tears for every cat I`ve lost. I have loved them with all my heart - and they knew it!!! I actually find it hard to love other people`s cats because they don`t relate to me in the same way! hehehehhehe
-
Just occurred to me that some of you might not be able to see my pic (as happened before) so I`ll try it a different way, too, as I think the message is so important: (Home of the free because of the brave)
-
saw your pictures this time, barbe.
Being the mother of a marine that served in Iraq I was moved by both barbe's post and bb's heartfelt words. He grew up fast but has no regrets.
Leah, praying for your DD. It is so scary watching a loved one go through pain and the agony of waiting.
My DD had legg perthes when she was young. We finally figured out what was wrong when she was in second grade. It is also called vascular necrosis of the ball joint in the hip. It never grew back to a healthy state. Even after keeping her in a wheelchair for 2 years. The world renown surgeon here in Vail preformed a complete hip revision with cartilage grafts. Not quite a hip replacement which they won't do because of her age(26). He did it arthroscopically that is why she can move so well already. We are in ortho heaven at the Steadman clinic and Howard Head sports medicine center.
She is getting grumpy now, tho. I am getting tired of doing so much sitting around and waiting. I treated myself to an upgrade on my phone yesterday so I have a new toy. lol
-
Leah, Sending good thoughts for your daughter. Please let us know when you have results. Watching a child with problems is worse than having them yourself.
-
BB and Barbe thank you for your posts and writing.
Leah I am praying for your DD. It is so difficult when it is one of our children who is ill. One of my sons had five major surgeries between 3 days and 15 years old. Today he is 46. Those were hard times beyond what we expect when we become parents. I send you love and all good thoughts as you wait for her results.
Mac It is wonderful that you DD has such a great surgical team. She is a real trooper on the bike.
hugs Ginger

Leah, I'm joining in with prayers for your daughter. I hope you'll hear something very soon and hope it's something that will relieve your mind.
Barbe and Brigadoon, thank you both for your posts. None of us would be enjoying our freedom today if not for those who paid the ultimate price for that very freedom. I hope you're saving your writings, BB. The one you shared was beautiful, and true. I used to be sure the time would come when there was no conflict, no wars, but I no longer am and fear for the world our grandchildren will have.
I hope all Americans will have a good Memorial Day and will pause to reflect on why we have it.

My heart goes out to you Leah as her mother as my 36 yr old daughter had a stroke last Friday and is now back to being my baby again. She can't use her right hand, talk properly or eat anything more than baby food. It seems she had a blockage in one of the blood vessels in her brain which cut off the oxygen supply.
The thing that hurts most is the fact that brain surgery at 10 for a tumour left her with all the deficits of a stroke patient but on the left hand side. Great physio, speech and occupational therapy got her back to 90% independence physically but left her at a 10-14 yr old mental age. If they can't get her rehabbed as well as last time she may have to go into an assisted-living group-home which breaks my heart because all she wants to do is come home.
As I say to her each day, we have to get through this one day at a time, but sometimes I don't quite believe myself.
Sheila.

Oh Sheila, I cannot imagine how torn your heart is! Please know she is in my prayers...so much sadness....
-
Sheila, I am so sorry for the overwhelming difficulties your daughter is having. I know your pain is immense right now. I am praying for your daughter, and for you.
Leah

Flowers planted. Took me forever, had to take many breaks, it's HOT here! I enjoyed my morning coffee on the patio. It's worth my aching back. Wilsie

Sending great big hugs Sheila and Leah
Having a quiet afternoon sorting out photos. Have posted a few of Prague and the wedding on BGP thread.
Hugs to all
-
Wilsie, love the pics!! Make sure you send updates as your garden grows.
Alyson, glad to know you've kept up so far! I can only imagine the pictures you haven't even been able to post yet!
-
Sheila, I'm so very sorry this has happened. Prayers for her and for you.

Oh Sheila I am so sorry that this has happened to your daughter........she is so young! How stressful for you.......I do hope that she can recouperate enough that she is able to go home rather than to a facility. ((((Hugs))))
Leah I know how worried you are........been there and done that three times now, twice for one daughter and once for the other. Yours like mine are kept a very close eye on because of us but that is a good thing really..........but I know the anxiety it causes. Here's hoping she gets the all clear. ((((Hugs))))
Aly I think you are going to need a holiday after your holiday......lol......enjoy while you are there.
Oh Wilsie your garden is looking so pretty and I can't wait to see it as it grows and fills in........such a lovely area to sit and enjoy a cuppa.
Nancy, hope your DD is recovering well.......PT is good but hard work but by the sounds of it she is very determined to heal well......good on her!
Barbe and Brigadoon, thanks for your writing, what wonderful thoughts! Hoping all you American girls had a good Memorial Day........sad for the lives lost but joyful for the lives gained.
I'm on the home stretch, ECG and bloods done, hair cut, last pressure point treatment done for six weeks and only my GP visit tomorrow before heading home to do the laundry and pack for my week in hospital. A very early trip back to the city on Saturday morning for an 8.00am admittance and 9.00am surgery. Have to say that I'm actually looking forward to the rest while I'm in there......maybe ......lol.
Take it easy all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Shiela, You and your daughter are in my prayers. This must be so difficult and your daughter is so young, We will all be thinking of you.
Leah I hope you get good news really soon. Waiting is so hard when it is yourself much less you child.
Ally looking forward to seeing your photos.
Willsie, your flowers are so pretty, they will fill out beautifully.
Chrissie please remember to wear something with lots of pockets to the hospital so we can all come along to keep you company.
Thanks Barbe and Bb for the lovely writings.
Do you all know how hot it si in India? I didn't. My DH has to go there for several weeks in July and I looked up the weather there. It is predicted to be 118 degrees midday next Sunday. That is blazing hot compared to Seattle. Wow.
Hugs to all Ginger
-
Morning all
Having a relaxing morning watching the birds in my friend's lovely garden - not sure what type is feeding now
Ginger have a look at Big Girls Panties on tour, posted pictures there last night.
Hugs to all
-
Sorry...couldn't resist it!!! hehehehhee
-
Leah Sheila, and Nancy, still praying for all your daughters. Please let us know how things are going when you can.
Wilsie, I love your pictures. Looks like it's shaping up now and I'm looking forward to seeing more as it grows.
Well Chrissy, it's almost the amen hour, as we say. Definitely thinking about you as the time nears and am sure you'll do well. It sounds like you're getting everything done that has to be done before and can go in with flying colors!
DH and I had photos done today for our church directory. We get one free 8 x10 and bought 2 extra photos to give to the children at Christmas. They'll be retouched, thank goodness! I do hate to get pictures made, but I'm looking forward to a photo session our children gave us for our family beach vacation next month.
Kathy

Barbe your photo didn't show up on my page.
-
Well girls nails done, shopping done and put away, dinner cooked and a load of laundry (all my new knickers and night gowns) are in the washer doing their thing......lol.......did I say I'm looking forward to the rest?.....hahahaha! As of right now I have thirty six hours before I have to present myself for admission.......I think I'm organized and if there is something I have forgotten then it's just too bad.
Thanks for all the well wishes and I will be taking the computer with me so I will be able to stay in touch. A bit bushed tonight so I catch you all tomorrow.
Love n hugs. Chrissy
-
Did this photo show up for anyone this way???
Kathy, I like that "amen hour" - how appropriate!!!
-
No picture here. Now I'm curious!
Chrissy, hope things go smoothly and rapid recovery.
Wilsie
-
No pick here either Barbe.
Yeah, I like that Amen Hour as well.....never heard it before but most appropriate.
Thanks Wilsie......I will be glad when it's done and the first six weeks have passed........that seems to be the worst time after that, not so bad.........lol.
Never did end up early bed......lol......DH was late getting home and is at present down in the kitchen what I call fiddling but is in actual fact trying to unglue some old post cards by soaking them in warm water. My kitchen benches are covered in paper towel and the wet postcards are sitting on top waiting to dry. I do hope it is all gone by the morning or there will be words spoken.......lol.
Love n hugs. Chrissy
