Hi ladies, I recently finished 12 weeks of taxol and carboplatin. Now getting ready to start 4 times of ac. My oncologist is giving me the option of one extra week in between treatments, so if I go with the extra week it will be 3 weeks since the last taxol/carbo when I start the AC. Is it OK to take the extra week or could it spread the cancer during that time? Thoughts are appreciated. I'm burned out after 3 months of chemo and the extra week sounds nice but Im not sure if I should take it. I am node positive (2 nodes), tumor completely shrunk at this point.

I have to decide tonight so replies are appreciated.

Sounds like I'm on the same path as you.  I just had my first weekly Taxol treatment last week.  I will be having Carbo added every 3 weeks.  Is your therapy neoadjuvant or have you already had surgery.  I'm doing chemo first.  Anything that's helped you with the weekly Taxol?

Not too bad.  Tired, came home and slept the rest of the day.  Some abdominal pain and bone pain.  This week was just Taxol, not as fatigued, day 3 today I'm starting to have some diarrhea.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I would add my experience. I had 12 weeks of taxol and then 3 weeks off before starting AC. My MO wanted me to take the "extra" week off. I was 61 at the time of chemo, but in excellent shape and had no serious SE's with taxol. It was my impression that she always has her patients take either one or two extra weeks off between Taxol and AC.
