node/gland under jaw
I have had a swollen gland/node on the right side under my jawline.
Its that gland/node that get's swollen when your sick. My MO says its
nothing but i don't believe him. It's been this size for about 6
months, its not hard but swollen. I have my next appointment with him
early June but I also scheduled an appointment with and ENT doctor. I
want to believe my MO but I'm just not a lucky person. In a way I don't
want to know anything and just get through the summer fun but that
would be sticking my head in the sand! My MO is so anti-scan so i have
to beg, borrow and steal to get one, hence why i schedule an appointment
with ENT, maybe he will take me seriously.
If anyone has any advise do

Sorry, I don't have any advice however I do have the same problem. Mine is on left side. Been swollen since my second session of chemo. First oncologist thought it was swollen saliva glands. Then Radiation doctors thought maybe from my port. Had my port taken out and the lump is still there. I had a ultrasound down to determine if it was a blood clot. That was negative. Last visit oncologist said we will just wait to see if it presents it self. What? Something is wrong and causing it to swell and cause discomfort.. I guess my best option would be to also see a ENT. Please keep us posted what you find out. Best wishes,
Pam

I have the same thing. It appeared suddenly last August. Went to doctor who felt it and said it was a reactive node. I thought it might be related to allergies. Still not sure. It got smaller, but never disappeared, then would get a little bigger again. Right before Christmas, I thought I had a sinus infection and saw the PA. She had just had a lymph node scanned and they told her it looked like a reactive node. So this is not uncommon. Frankly I just couldn't cope with going for a scan or a biopsy right before the holidays, as that is when my first breast cancer was diagnosed. Thought I would wait until January, after my mammogram. Well, that led to another biopsy and, here I sit, 9 weeks after a BMX for DCIS. When I got home from the hospital, I could hardly feel the lymph node under my jaw. I thought it might be related to the antibiotics they gave me - perhaps I had a low grade infection. Also, I was so distracted by the surgery and fretting once again about breast cancer, that I kept my paws off the lymph node. If you touch them constantly, they will swell. I still am not sure what it is or was. I was told that if they are moveable and not hard, they are likely okay. Also if they appear suddenly, they are likely okay. Also, once swollen, they can take a long time to go down and, in fact, may never go back to normal. You are not alone, if that makes you feel better in the short-term. Sounds like you are pursuing an answer. I hope you report back as I am curious what the ENT guy says.

Thank you. Happy to hear there are similar experiences out there. I will be talking to my MO june 6 and an ENT on june 10th. An answer would be nice or rather just confirmation its not cancer. I hate this.

jen: Years ago, in my 20's, I had a swollen node under my jaw/chin area that my dr insisted was due to a dental procedure I had just had done. It stayed swollen for years after! I worried the entire time. Please don't waste more precious time worrying. She also insisted that because it was soft, etc. it was nothing to worry about. She was right.
