Dancing with the Stars

Amy's dance reminded me of Pink's "Glitter in the Air" at the Grammy's.
-
Ruth, you got that right! Going to put on my pj's shortly (wish I had pop corn with that, at Mom and Dad's and they don't have any).
Really forward to this year!
-
I wanted to but had to finish the tie tac for my DD2 husband to be for this S aturday. Figured I was running out of time. LOL
I'll have to not peek at this til it's over and I watch it from the beginning.
-
I won't reveal anything until it is over for everyone....other than to say, what a WONDERFUL season!!!!!
-
watched my recording. Wow! It was an amazing season.
-
Fantastic season! Watching the final 4 on GMA.
-
I wonder how this will affect Charlie and Meryl's ice skating? It's got to help their musicality and rhythm. They looked great dancing together! And Max was thrilled so was Meryl. Amy looked a bit dissapointed though. Derek looked happy for Max. I'm just glad it wasn't Candace! LOL
-
Well, I was thrilled with Meryl and Maks winning the competition....and also a bit sad for Amy! (Tho I know that Meryl deserved the win and treated us all to many amazing performances throughout this season.)
I especially loved this grand finale. I even watched the recap of the top three at 8 o'clock and liked how it was done. And, for once, I enjoyed watching all the contestants return.
Moonflower, I totally loved watching Meryl & Charlie dance, they were amazing, and I wish they would have gone on longer! Yes, you ask a great question, what kind of positive influence will this experience have on them? I was impressed that they did the show so soon after winning the gold in the Olympics.
I saw Sharna several times in the show dancing with the other professionals, her hair long, straight, parted in the middle, swinging all around and wearing some skimpy outfit and she looked hot! For some reason, she didn't shine like that during the competition; when paired with Charlie, she was often a bit subdued. Plus, I don't think it worked in her favor to dance as Mary Poppins which seems kind of school marm-ish next to Charlie's boyishness. There wasn't that chemistry there that existed between Meryl & Maks.
How about Len saying this may have been his last season to judge????!!! I will hate to see him go.
-
Besides the great dancing, I thought it was a special season because it told so many other lessons too.
Although Candace's dancing shouldn't have gotten her into the top three, she seemed very humble and thrilled to be there. And I think, since she wasn't ever a dancer before, was pretty brave and seemed to grow in confidence & poise.
Amy...what an example of overcoming an extremely difficult situation, one that certainly could have been used as an excuse to withdraw from the world. And Derrick....what a magnificent job of shaping their dances to allow her to shine.
Meryl and Max=Magic!!! Meryl brought out her expressive/sexy/dramatic side. Max found his match and turned into a big teddy bear. I loved when he said at the end that now he knows the reason he had never won before, he was waiting for her. Awwww........
-
I hope the teddy bear sticks around.

you've all pretty much said everything. It was a tough call between Amy and Meryl but for several reasons Meryl and Maks deserved it. They have fairly consistently been on the top. Candace had a huge fan base. Glad they included James in Final Four celebrations as he did deserve them.
I think Maks was finally humbled by Meryl as he was always the star (and acted like it) with whomever he was paired but not around Meryl. And she didn't appear to have a swelled head which put him in his place. We'll have to see future pairings with him.
It was wonderful to see how the professionals appeared to be so pleased with the final results. Derek seemed as genuinely happy for Maks as he would have been for himself.
Wonder what next season will bring....
-
Ruth, great post.
Maybe the surprise is that Maks was tamed by a woman who's femininity was not bold and in your face but quietly confident. Meryl didn't compete with Maks for the spotlight. They blended as one so they both could shine. Her successful partnering with Charlie is one reason she was able to click with Maks so effortlessly.
I'm still impressed with Derek. (I spell his name so many different ways, not sure what's correct!). I mean, yes, he's had terrific partners to win, but last season he had Amber who was overweight and they won, and this season he had Amy with a disability and he still managed to get them to second place and only an Olympic gold medalist was better. He's just amazing.
Now when it comes to that Emma who was paired with Billy Dee Williams this time and that other older gent last season, I'd like to see her partnered up with someone like a Cody or a James. It'd be nice to see how she works with a younger guy.
Loved hearing all the opinions from you ladies this season; makes the whole show even more fun to watch!
-
I don't want it to be over!!! I wish they still had the crying emoticon!!!!!
-
I haven't been able to post here as much as I would've liked but enjoyed the thought of everyone watching together. Great comments and thanks for the added fun, it was a wonderful season! ♥
-
Will you all be watching So you think you can dance?
I love watching it when they have a lot of talent. Sometimes it's amazing.
-
When & what channel is it on?
-
Not sure. I'll post when I know. You can go on you tube to see some of the best dances. Bleeding love was really great a couple of years ago.
-
May 28, 8/7 on Fox. Last year was the 10th anniversary. So you can Google so you think you can dance and they have top ten performances to give you a taste.
-
Moonflwr, I know that show is popular, but I think I'm spoiled with DWTS!
-
I watched a replay of a couple of the dances on the internet last night.....I think I am having withdrawal symptoms and am suffering from PDWSS (Post Dancing With the Stars Syndrome)!
-
Ruth, that's funny, PDWTSWS!
-
Ruth, this year I'm prepared with an antidote!! I taped the last 1/2 plus of the season.
-
I wonder if one could order the season someplace? If not, I might have to have you send me a copy!
-
I think it eventually would come out on DVD, or on Netflix. It's definitely something I would watch again.
-
Go to the DWTS website, they have full episodes of this and past seasons you can watch.
-
It would be fun if you could just get an 'Amy' or 'Meryl' (or whomever you wanted to) see video, then you wouldn't have to wade through the rest of it.
-
chabba, thanks for the tip!
-
Hey gals, I just go to youtube and type in 'dwts amy and derek' or 'dwts meryl and maks' and you can just pick their performances. Some videos have the practice clip they always show and the scores too (these videos are 7-8 minutes long). I confess I do this after the initial show for each season and then just watch my faves until last 3-4 shows. Although sometimes your awesome comments here have made me go and watch some of the others lol. This WAS an awesome season - so happy Meryl and Maks won - tho Amy and Derek were phenomonal! Hugs from Canada, Patti 😄
-
Awesome, I will check them out!

Yesterday while shopping, I heard the song "Feel So Close To You Right Now" in the store and immediately thought of Meryl & Maks. I looked it up on YouTube and found it's the song they danced the tango to. The clip shows the practice session where Maks confides he's terrified and Meryl tells him to hold her hand.
I don't remember ever hearing the song before this show, yet it sounds like something I've always been familiar with, if that makes sense. This dance was the game-changer for Meryl & Maks, and put them on the path for victory. I loved everything about it. Meryl's costuming, hair and make-up were perfection, Maks looks super sharp and sizzling in all black.
Ooo, and that chemistry. The words to the song mimic what's happening to the couple as they compete for the mirror ball trophy: "I feel so close to you right now, it's a force field. And there's no stopping us right now..." The dance is one of the best we've ever seen on the show.
