No need for anyone to reply to this post, I just needed and wanted to say thank you.

I rarely post in this forum, but I do read posts from time to time on here.  I had very mild lymphedema in my left arm, although now I might have made matters worse and will be visiting more often.

Last week while on vacation I was in a biking accident and sustained injures all over, but my left arm got the worse of it.  From things I read and learned from breastcancer.org, this thread in particular, and stepup-speakout.org I was able to advocate for the care needed to hopefully prevent a worse outcome, although I am still recovering and time will tell.

My accident resulted in bad road rash, scrapes, really bad bruising and swelling and then developed a rash.  My chest got scraped up pretty bad, but at least I couldn't feel most of if (numb from BMX) and the implants survived.  Thankfully no broken bones.  Taking antibiotics and prednisone, and once I got home my local doctor wanted to see me right away and is keeping a close watch on my arm.

I know I will have a several weeks to go until my arm returns to some type of normal.  Don't know the medical folks who helped me on vacation would have known what to do if I was not somewhat informed about lymphedema thanks to the resources I found here and told them how to treat me.

So THANK YOU all.

proudmom, pat yourself on the back for being proactive in learning about LE.  I wish you the best in a speedy return to health and especially for your LE to fall back in line, with a return to 'mild.'  You have had a rough time of it!
