how long to take Herceptin 9 month / 1 year

My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in marсh 2013, 2cm,  Her2/neu 3+++.  IIA st. 1/2 nodes. She was treated with Herceptin and Taxotere (6 courses),+ she received 7 courses of Herceptin.

Аll she was treated with Herceptin 9 months but not year.  Who were treated with Herceptin less than a year (6 month, 9 month)?

    I have a very similar diagnosis as your mom except I had negative nodes. Dx'd last March also. I'm getting Herceptin for 1 year, finishing up in May 2014.

    I  only had herceptin for between 6 months and 9 months because my ejection fraction went too low.  I will be 5 years out this April.

    An oncologist I saw today, mentioned this FinHEr study (google it) where in Finland, the doctors used just 3xTH plus 3xFEC, and the risk reduction is comparable to taking it for a full year... a caveat though is that the study is very small. For Herceptin, there are still studying whether 6 months suffice instead of a full year. Another oncologist I saw thinks thats most likely the case, though for now will go with 1 year Herceptin, beause the survival rate was just slightly (not significant) lower in the 6 months group. I am so looking forward to confirmation that shorter Herceptin duration is okay, as I would most likely start my chemo+HErceptin treatments early June..
