Hi.  I had a left breast mastectomy a couple of weeks ago for IDC.  The pathology report indicated there was LCIS present.  My general surgeon said not to worry about it. See you in a year for mammogram of my right breast.  Shouldn't I have some type of follow up regarding the LCIS?

LCIS is a bilateral disease; it puts your other breast at risk of invasive bc.   the 3 standard options generally are close monitoring, tamoxifen  or bilat mastectomies. So unless you're interested in more surgery, you may want to consider taking tamoxifen  as a preventative measure.

Thanks awb.  I just had tram flap surgery and am certainly not interested in anymore surgery.  I wish I knew about the LCIS before my mastectomy.  I would have just said cut them both off and not have fooled around with reconstruction.
