I just started tamoxifen a couple days ago, I stopped my HRT finally after finding a wonderful doctor that I finally feel I can trust. My other dr advised me to up my HRT for surgical menopause symptoms and it just didn't seem right with my diagnosis. So new Dr says no more! Anyway besides the hotflashes becoming five times worse I am having back pains and anxiety since starting the Tomoxifen. They tried putting me on Efexer as well but I just can't tolerate the side effects. Sorry rambling just wondering if anyone else had these issues and if they go away after a bit. Thanks ladies :)

Do a search on Tamoxifen. There are numerous current threads.

Also, a lot of your symptoms may be more from stopping the HRT than from the drug.

Smitty - The hormonal therapy threads are pretty active so please join us there. There is a thread about Effexor as well, many of us had no symptoms when starting it, and it really does help with mood swings and hot flashes. I haven't heard of back pains being  a SE of T, but who knows.  I can only imagine how tough it is to give up the HRT. I agree with Melissa. I would think stopping the HRT would increase anxiety. If things get too bad, you might get settled without the HRT, then start the Tamoxifen in a few weeks, that way you will know what is and what isn't a SE of Tamoxifen. Best of luck!

the anxiety, back pain, and increased hot flashes may be your body's reaction to going off the HRT, and not from the tamoxifen.   but is it is from the tamox, chances are things will level off after 2-3 months, after your body has a chance to adjust to it. sorry to hear you couldn't tolerate the effexor. Hope things work out for you.

I actually stopped the HRT a couple weeks ago on my own waiting for a second opinion, and the new Dr comfirmed that I should stop taking them. I was still having hot flashes but not like the first couple days on Tamoxiflen. I do not do good with any kind of drugs, Tylenol gives me upset stomach. But I am going to give this time to see if my body can acclimate to it. I was prepared for everything except the body aches. I talked to my aunt today who took It for five years and she experienced a lot of joint pain. I was kind of glad she did as well because I was scared my body was having an adverse reaction to it. At this point I am happy to take it and to be proactive in future health. Thanks for the thoughts and advice ladies and I will check for the other threads on Tamox.
