American Idol Season 13 - The Voice Season 6

BRAVO to the eliminated contestant
It was a beautiful song
-
Wednesday night was underwhelming for us.
Caleb seemed totally subdued for the first time ever. Yes, he was sick; it happens. But the show went on.
Hated the first two choices for Jena - completely wrong for her voice and the strain for certain notes was uncomfortable to hear. But she gave a powerhouse final performance - always nice for more votes.
Alex - we could close our eyes and listen to a whole album of his singing and musicianship - but to open our eyes and have to see him on stage just gave us the willies.
I've never EVER seen a performer who was so uncomfortable on stage! Difficult to make eye contact, no where to puts his hands, looking like he could puke at any second.... Just incredibly painful to watch. The other contestants gained confidence and stage presence working with professionals over the last few months but not Alex.
So, it was no surprise that he went home tonight.
As Caleb watched his "hometown visit" on stage, I think we saw his vulnerability and youth for the first time. I think it finally dawned on him that he might not win.
As for Jena, she is a producer's dream - a talented blank canvas. Here: sing this, say this, wear this, act this way. In other words, malleable.
I'm predicting Jena for the win next week.
-
I agree with you, Blessings, on all counts.
-
I hope you are right Blessings, but am a sucker for falling for the Producer's dream?
-
RE: Voice
I like Christina and want her to win
She is very refreshing
And we know who is leaving tomorrow as a 3rd runner up
-
I want Josh to win!
-
1 hour AI was very entertaining tonight
Now the Voice finale
DVR overworking to catch all the shows.....
-
I think Gena will be the winner of AI. I hope the record company doesn't screw up her career.
-
I deleted because I forgot about the west coast.
-
YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY
I'm torn tonight for AI since Alex isn't in the running. I guess I'm hoping for #1-Jena #2 Caleb just because I think that Jena has the ability to do more than Caleb
-
That's what I said too, Gena.
-
Well, DUH!!!! Looked at the TV guide part of the paper this morning and it said tonight was the AI finale with the winner announced. DH and I looked at each other and realized we had totally missed last night's performance. It was Tuesday, fer cryin' out loud!!!
But we have it on DVR, and will watch, if only to make our predictions about what will happen tonight...
(But I still have my suspicions about who the winner will be....)
-
Blessings..i did post on the last page about AI schedule
Tonight is Survivor and Law & Order SVU finale and they are all falling in the same time
I'll watch L & O on free demand with full commercials
My vote goes to Jena but i won't be upset or disappointed if Caleb wins..He is a nice guy
-
CONGRATULATIONS to Josh Kaufman
-
Caleb is a nice guy - that is very easy to pick up on. I would like to see a Jena win, but they both seem like winners at this point. I never like the final 2 show in the big Nokia? theatre. It doesn't feel as intimate as the normal AI sound stage and generally the results night is a big snooze. I will be watching the Survivor finale and catching up on American Idol later.
-
Not to mention,The Americans finale is tonight.
-
Congratulations to the winner !
IMO...This season's AI Finale was one of their best finale
I really enjoyed the entertainment
Tomorrow we discuss the winner
-
WOW! You're right, Sheila - I think this really was their best AI finale ever! I want that last dress that J-Lo wore for the Judges' group number. Think I'll look just like her if I get one? LOL
And I'm o.k. with tonight's winner.
The true test is a year from now, whose music will we be hearing all over the place, and whose name will get a "WHO?" from everyone...
But both Jena and Caleb have what it takes to make it in this business.
Sadly, many did not, and reaffirming that tonight were the other contestants who went home early.
All in all, a good show!
-
I'm glad you enjoyed it too Blessings
Did you also noticed JENA disappeared after They announced the winner ??????
-
CALEB JOHNSON......AI Season 13 winner
-
I don't believe Caleb is original enough to be a big success. He is a rocker, but that style, as much as I like it, is out of favor with the younger crowd. Jena is more rounded and I think stands a better chance of becoming a success. For both of them, it all depends on if their original songs are any good. It is all about the song.
-
Blessings this is for you
-
boo hiss!! Loved Alex & Jason Mraz together tho'.
-
Sheila - I noticed that, too! Man, she and her entire family were OUTTA THERE in a flash! OH - thanks for posing that pic of the judges' performance... I don't know why I am fixated on J-Lo's dress, but I just love it! I know I would look JUST LIKE HER if I got one! LOL
Infobabe - you are right. Most of the time no one remembers the Idol winners. Caleb is certainly talented, and will have his own set of fans, but I agree that Jena is more versatile.
Eph_3:12 - DH and I were SO impressed with Alex performing with Jason Meraz! We both said that would be an album we would buy. (Do they still call them "albums" any more?)
^^^^^^
Here's the thing we always say about the AI LOSER: they could end up in a much better position than the winner. If you think about it, it's pretty much a given that Jena has already been signed to a record label. With her talent she will go far, without being under the constant manipulation of the AI "machine". She will have much more freedom to create and perform her own music, and put on the kind of concerts she wants to.
Yep - I think Jena is going to make out just fine in her new career!
I know they're advertising auditions for the next season... Does anyone know when those shows start again?
-
Blessings, something odd, on iTunes, Jenas "I can't help falling in love etc.) is not listed for sale as a single. It was performed a long time ago. So I am wondering if the AI machine or someone else is saving it for an album. I am going to look again.
Also, JLo, can you believe she is 45 years old? She had twins too.
-
It's funny how we all have a different take on J-Lo. I'm embarrassed for her most of the time...without delving into the specifics. Also, does she have it in her contract that the camera has to be on her X% of the time while a contestant is singing?
Blessings - I know you'd look better in that dress.
-
KAM!!!!!
-
Is there a thread for Fall 2014?
