Declined chemo and radiation on 2nd go-round?

Options

In 2009 diagnosed with IDC stage IIA. Had a lumpectomy, four tx of chemo and radiation for six weeks. I have been clear the past 4 years and 4 months.  I am getting a bone scan and MRI on Friday, and suspect that its back in the same breast, different area. I am seriously considering foregoing the repeat of chemo and radiation (if that is the course suggested).  Looking for feedback from anyone who may have experienced something similar, and rejected the chemo/rad tx.   I am going to do the mastectomy regardless.

Lissee this didn't happen with me, but I'm wondering - if they are doing a bone scan they are looking for metastases. I think your tx is determined by what stage you will be. I am not sure, but think that a breast cannot be radiated a second time. If you are discovered to be stage 4 and you are ER positive, your tx would include hormonal treatments such as tamoxifen or arimidex, I think. Not even sure they would do a MX or chemo. I think you'll need to find out a great deal more about what's going on before making any decisions about treatment. wishing you the best possible outcome, it must be a scary time.
