I just started Arimidex 4 days ago after 2-1/2 years on tamoxifen.

I've started reading the Arimidex threads and am freaking out about all the comments about hair loss.  If you've been on this drug for at least a year or more and had minimal to no hair loss, can you shout out?  I know we are all different, so I am hoping there are a few gals out there with hair. Tongue out

Humm...I have only been on it for 4 1/2 months and was not aware of any hair loss issues. I have not experienced any at all.

I will be on Arimidex five years in May and have not experienced hair loss.  I do notice it is dry and I condition it very often.

2 years, no hair loss that wasn't stress related, it's all come back, Dry skin, on the other hand. . .

Wallycat-- the hair loss I did have was at the very beginning of treatment--I started lupron injections to force menopause, was stressed to the max about that, in pain from radiaition damage, and a few more  minor things like losing my job and family issues.  Since the hair came back after mastectomy/finding new job/settling family issues/etc, I really do not think the arimidex was to blame.  In fact, I was losing hair pretty steadily BEFORE arimidex while on tamoxifen, now that I think of it.  But then, the stressors were piling up during that time, too.  Also, it's not hair LOSS, it's hair THINNING that can be associated with arimidex, but hair thinning is also associated with menopause for some women, so who's to say which it really is?

2 1/2 years on Arimidex and only a little thinning (nothing that is noticable).

    Good luck to you,

    Nancy

Been on Arimidex 2 years in May.  No hair loss, no dry hair.  According to my hairdresser I have really healthy hair.

I have been on Arimidex for 2 years and 5 months and am just now noticing that my hair is getting very thin on top of my head.   My hair was never thick but it is much thinner now and I am beginning to worry about it.   For all of those whose hair is not thinning, consider yourself lucky.   I have no pain in my joints so I am thankful for that.

Been on it for 3 years. My hairline had started to recede before diagnosis so I was using women's Minoxidil once a day. I started using it again after chemo. I due have some receding but not bad. No one would know.

But I'm now trying another AI do to some other SE.

Six months on Arimidex and have had no problem with hair thinning and loss - just aches and pains in joints.

Been on Arimidex 21 months. My hair is thinner but it was already thinner than most before chemo. It's fine hair and dark so it shows a bit. I need to highlight it like I did before chemo.

Been on Arimidex for almost 3 months and no hair loss. In fact my hair has grown back quickly from chemo  I was bald on New Year's day and now it is almost 2 inches long and starting to curl. It's also just as thick as it was before chemo.

I've been on Arimidex for 9 years now. No hair loss - I have the same very thick hair I had before losing it to chemo.
