Microcalcs growing since last 2 mammos...time for biopsy

Options

Tomorrow will be my 4 year "anniversary" from diagnosis.  I had my diagnostic mammogram Friday and the radiologist who was working said everything looked stable.  I always ask for the Department Chair who originally diagnosed me to also look at my films.  She called me today and said that the microcalcifications are growing and its time to biopsy them to know what we are dealing with.  It's 6mm in size.  Of course, I told everyone my mammogram was just fine, nothing to worry about and then proceeded to tell them I am a 4 year survivor!  Not.So.Fast.  They have just installed the new 3D mammography equipment but are still setting up and testing the software.  She wants me to have the biopsy using the newest equipment so it may be a couple of weeks.  She said if I didn't have this history of breast cancer in the left breast where the microcalcs are located, she wouldn't do the biopsy.  I know she is aggressive, that is why I like her but (excuse my language) SHIT!!!  Originally she thought the calcifications were a "side effect" from the whole breast radiation but since they have grown, she wants to rule out cancer.  My fat ass has grown since the last mammo so I am wondering if that is why they are growing - I know, I am really grasping at straws.  OK, done with my pitty party.  I swear I have post traumatic stress syndrome from all of the CT's, Pet scans, Breast MRI's, etc. that I had at diagnosis.  Lord my family thought I was going to jump off the roof!  Praying that it's all B9.  Thanks for letting me vent!

shadylady, I think she is just practicing good medicine....very good medicine...she's being cautious and looking out for you.  She may not think you have cancer...she just wants to rule it out.  I know how you are feeling....when I hit my 3 year mark something came up about calcifications and it really bummed me out.  Everything turned out fine.

    Good luck.

ps  if it were me, I would do the biopsy as soon as i could so that it wouldn't be on my mind.
