Pain in Back :(

Options

I had scoliosis as a child, received physical therapy for it and don't ave any measurable scoliosis (last X-Ray was over 15 years ago). I've had chronic back pain all my life but strangely none during chemo (thank goodness). My back pain is back....worse than ever.  I mentioned it to my oncologist and he took a look at my last CT scan that I had about two months earlier for rads planning and he said he didn't see anything but i do have arthritis in my spine.  I brought this up to my family doctor and he prescribed me pain meds and physical therapy.  It's been about two months since then....I've had 5 sessions if PT and my back pain isn't getting any better.

I'm wondering if I should go see my oncologist again and insist on more tests or if I'm just over reacting.  It's only been a few months since I finished rads and I'm also on Femera that makes all my joints hurt.

Appreciate any advice!

I guess diagnosis and treatment history doesn't show up unless it's a reply...

I dont have experience with this but do think you definately should be your own advocate and if you're uncertain and worried ask for a MRI, your doctors should find the cause of your pain. Hopefully it is nothing cancer related. I'm certain others will be along soon with experiences like yours. I hope you are okay and wish you the best.

Ok, so here is my story!!  I also have scoliosis, however, mine is pretty bad!  I wore a brace as a child but as an adult, have had mild back pain off and on!  I have a very good chiropractor that has always been able to "get the kinks" out if I had a flare!!  However, when I was dx with BC, he advised me that the radiation would NOT be good to my back!!  that being said, ever since the end of the rads, I have major back pain!!  I've done OT, PT, chiro and massage!!  I finished rads Oct 4 and to this day, I'm still seeing the chiro twice a month and the massage therapist weekly!!  I mentioned all of this to my MO, and he doesn't seem to think it is cancer however no scans or tests have been done!!

I was also pain free during chemo, this, for me, was due to the large amount of steroids I was given!  They helped with that, however, I'm told now, that the steroids can also cause muscle and bone damage, so some of my pain may be now attributed to that also!!  I

I am a work in progress and I do not see my MO again until August so if I'm still having lots of pain at that time, I'm sure some sort of scan or test will be done!!

    Hope you get some relief!

thanks everyone.  I'm planning on seeing my oncologist in the next couple of weeks if the pain doesn't get better.

I ended chemo and radiation in 2009. Began taking tamoxifen and my back began to ache. (Not common for me in the past).  I had many test, but nothing was found. I have since changed from tomoxifen to letrozole and the pain is worse, but also includes my knees and ankles.   I too was told I have osteoarthritis, and PT did nothing to help.   Now, I accept it as part of growing old with BC.
