wilsie2, I too love a Japanese Maple. My BFF had one in the front yard of the house where she grew up, I miss it to this day. We are going to move to one level living in the next couple of years. Will I gain weight without having to climb the stairs?

I am trying to nurse a dogwood tree back to health after having to move it last year because of new septic system installation. My mother had planted it and loved it. I just saw some little sprouts on it the other day. yay

Yay, Chrissy for finding and hearing the bird and the washer. I love my aids as does my daughter. lol

Yesterday my DD and I found this great sink combo for the little house. It has a soapstone sink. Very funky. Now we just have to have it delivered to the island.

minus all the stuff on top and inside of it. lol we found it in the back of the store (they were using it but still wanted to sell it.)

moving to one level is the best thing I ever did. I thank my daughter every day for pushing me to do it. My arthritic dog appreciates no steps, and I now need a hip replacement and am doubly glad. As for weight, I don't think I can blame my weight gain on the steps!

Thanks Chrissy!!! So, to remind y'all, my sister in Portland, Oregon has no idea how she ended up with this item that would have started out in Toronto, Ontario!!! Weird, eh?? Also amazing is that my Mom held on to them for however many years... I would have been 11 when I gave this to her.

Barbe, how sweet that you made those gifts for your mom and how dear that she kept them!  Must make you feel good.

I, too, love Japanese maples.  They do grow this far south but my attempt to grow one in my yard failed.  However I was not home during the hot summer months to make sure it was watered.  It was pricey, too.  I paid $100 for it at a nursery. 

I have not ever seen a soapstone sink but I like the name.

Chrissy, so glad your new hearing aids work well.  I play golf with a woman who won't wear hers on the golf course because she's afraid she'll lose one!  Needless, to say you have to yell to communicate with her. 

I normally do not bake but I had my oven going this morning.  I made a box cake, yellow, and iced it with pre-made chocolate icing.  The cake is for a dessert selection tomorrow at my mother's house, where we'll have a family gathering for Mother's Day.  I also made carrot cake cookies following a recipe from Cooking Light magazine.  I sampled one cookie and it tastes good but the texture is odd.  Sort of "rubbery!"  They were supposed to be sandwich cookies sort of like small whoopee pies but I didn't make the filling.  When I figured out the weightwatcher points, the cookies are 4 pts.  I won't be eating many of them!

Tomorrow morning I'll be cooking a large ham and a pot of fresh green beans for the Mother's Day dinner.  Other siblings will be bringing food so it will be a planned potluck.  All in the "comfort food" category.

I have been dropping in several places, Faslodex one, Bone mets one, and anything that seems to have an interesting subject line. I am no help when it comes to medical advise, I depend on those who seem to have the knowledge of a research scientist, and I am grateful for their words. I just like to occasionally whine or celebrate, and glad I have fallen in with you who have "sense".  Thanks for welcoming me.  Wilsie

Thanks, it's good to have friends who understand. I am not nearly as moody as I once was, just taking it one day at a time now.
