I had reconstruction and tissue expander under PEC muscle 2 years ago. Went through 6 weeks of radiation with severe burns and resulting lymphedema.treated for lymphedema with compression garments. My question is I have an implant silicone size: b and it has never stopped hurting. I am very active anf the more I do the more that area swells and feel very hard. The doctor said the tissue would never be the same after radiation which I can account for is true. I feel like I have a rock in my chest.I would have never gone through all of this knowing what this feels like now but on the  flip side I would hate the thought of looking at the disfigurement daily in the mirror. I don't want to be a whiner but all of this has just changed me so much as a person. I don't know whether or not to go in and have that thing taken out or tough it up and live with it. Has anyone experienced any of these feelings

SD, I'm sorry for this on-going pain. Since there's swelling involved, have you had your lymphedema therapist evaluate it for truncal lymphedema. That's often painful, but proper treatment and compression makes a huge difference. Here's information about breast (truncal) lymphedema:

I hope you soon have solid answers and real relief. Gentle hugs,

I can truly relate your pain physically as well as mentally...  I too am considering removing the implant as I feel like it is causing much of my pain. I have tried massaging the area to soften it; but now I have soft spots while other areas feel hard as a rock.  Not to mention the rock breast is higher than the non affected breast...  So frustrated!   I plan on getting an opinion from my plastic surgeon;  but, I don't know if I want to do another surgery,  my body has been through enough...  I know I don't have an answer for you, but I hope you have comfort in knowing you are not alone.

some have gotten relief from rads damage by fat grafting either with or without replacing implant. search on words fat grafting, fat transfer, or lipofilling for relevant discussion threads.
