pipers- thanks;). I am doing better this weekend. Gearing up for chemo Wednesday. Then, I have one more mid May. Just a little but longer!! Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!!
-
hello everyone!! and welcome TB!!
just came back and still fighting with the jet lag...but i think i will be almost there tonight.
piper - oh sorry to hear about your blue mood....hang in there. does exercise help at all? hopefully after couple more weeks, you'll feel better.
where's red??
-
Thank you for including me!
-
hi ladies,
going back to work the coming Monday...kind of excited to go back. i went back friday just to finish some personal errands (insurance claims) bc i don't have printer at home. i felt so welcomed when ppl glad to see me.
have a good weekend everyone...
-
OMG - I cannot believe I somehow deleted this from my favourites. I just thought nobody was responding. Good Lord.
Hug'n'kisses - I will write tonight. Gosh I can't believe I did that.
-
red- that is what happened to me awhile back lol! We are still here! Good to hear from you!
June- good luck at work!
I have one more chemo May 14th. Y'all this has been so long:(. I know I needed it because I am under 40 and stage 3c, but wow! Feels like I have been fighting for a very long time. I will start my rad treatment in June and have 6 1/2 weeks if that. It is just day by day right now. 90% of the time I am positive and upbeat. Today was a 10% day. It will pass. I just think about this time next year;). Hopefully, all over!!!
-
OMG - I wrote this really long post and it disappeared when I tried to post.
Ok so the main thing was,
JODI, your most important thing right now is to look after you. You cannot care for your babies if you are not healthy. Rest when you're tired. Exercise as much as you can, even if its only to walk around the block every day, or to go up and down the stairs 3 times each day for no reason other than to do it.
June, your most important thing right now is to look after you too. You won't be any good with your family or able to work with any kind of focus if you don't. Then you end up with a bad review, not because you didn't try really hard but because you lacked focus. I'm glad your coworkers are looking forward to your return, but if you can't work and have a life too, tell your doc and go off work again.
Love you both.
If either of you hears from Piper I need to know her opinion on asparagus and lemon juice. I have heard good things, but as our resident expert in all things organic, I would like her opinion.
hugs'n'kisses,
Deb
-
red - thats very kind of you...thanks!! i do worry a little about the work load....i'll see how it goes. (((hugs)))
jodi - i am so excited for you. one more to go and you'll be done.
xoxoxo to both of you.
-
I'm here. Jodi's going for the finish line--yay! Please keep us posted on how you're doing. I will echo Red's advice to rest when you need to. How is your husband doing with all this? I'm sure it does feel as if you've been fighting a long time--and then you'll look back and wonder how you could have changed so profoundly in such a short time--and many changes will be positive. You'll be wiser in so many ways b/c you got to glimpse the true value of life.
June, I hope all will be well at work. If you're like me, you need to avoid those with sympathetic eyes for the time being--nothing makes me cry harder than sympathy lol but maybe you're made of sterner stuff than I am.
Red, I'm on the fence about asparagus b/c I've seen things that say you should avoid it. But then I've seen references to the idea that flax should be avoided too and most research says it's good, so. . . I don't know. I guess I'd say that asparagus should be one of the vegetables that you add regularly but I wouldn't megadose on it lol b/c as far as I know, beyond being a vegetable there is no really convincing research that says it has special cancer fighting properties, like brassicas do for instance. My holistic doc even has me limiting it somewhat b/c I have a slight sensitivity to it which could take a small toll out of my immune system. I do love the stuff though! Now that's just current research that I know of, and who knows what they'll find out down the road? They discover new things every day when they take the time to look.
-
hi piper, great to see you here.
I didn't tell my colleagues only the few needed to know. So it's been quite easy to comeback to the office. Boy can't believe there's a deadline Friday. Talk about bad timing
-
Oh dear June, deadlines already? Well it will either energize you or make you really tired. At least you have the weekend to rest. Remember to look after you.
Jodi!!!! Home stretch! Hooray. We will be in your pockets on the last day, partying it up as only the Monday Club can. {{gentle hugs}} we're here for you.
Piper, you're back. I've missed you. How is your holistic treatment doing. Did you get the dental thing all fixed. Hmmm, no to asparagus huh? Well, I'll probably still eat it, cuz I love it, but maybe I won't ramp it up. Lol. How about lemon juice? Any yeses or nos about that?
I'm on Tamoxifen, side effects aren't the greatest. But I'm exercising more so I think that helps. I guess that would be true no matter what I was on.
Guess what? I booked a trip to Italy in June for our anniversary. Yes, ladies, I am spending my children's inheritance.
Hugs'n'kisses,
Deb
-
oh red, Italy sounds fun. So happy for you. The SE of tamoxifen will subside after couple of months...for me at least. And exercise helps for sure. I had lots of vivid dreams at first and it gets better afterwards.
I haven't been sleeping well since going back to work. I hope I will sleep well again soon. Probably stress or nervousness
-
Nope June, fatigue and insomnia are 2 of the SE's associated with Tamoxifen. And I've been on it since January - mine seem to be getting worse, not better. Sigh. Figures eh?
Glad your other SE's settled after a couple months tho.
Really looking forward to my trip to Italy in June. Taking Italian lessons. I suck at it though, my DH is doing much better.
Ttyl
-
I'll be on Tam too soon. Question- on it does it put you into menapause? I know they do not want cycles because of estrogen. Just curious how it works.
-
jodi - i still have my period but i am taking herbs from an alt doc to subside the SE and avoid uterine cancer. as far as i know chemo alone can kick us into menopause so tamxo alone is just an assistant. are you still getting your period? if you do...tamxo won't put you into menopause (i assume).
-
no! I had my last cycle in January. I am getting the genetic testing but they scheduled it for October! I am emailing and askin them to please move it up to June since I will be in Texas full time then. If positive, they will do a hysterectomy. I don't think it will be positive, but got to know for my own sisters and my three girls!
-
i doubt it's genetic since you are er/pr +. usually it's the triple neg that's genetic related. but it's good to check it out. i was going to do it but later just got lazy. there's no cancer in my family history (as far as my mom and dad could trace back upward..). i think i am the first one they know and are related to.
-
I am also er/pr+ her-
But I am perimenopausal. Means I was half way thru menopause already when I got bc. So sorry but no answers for you Jodi. Lots of hugs and kisses tho.
-
2 cool things to share;)
First- I got an app for my phone called Slide X. I put all my pics in order I want to appear like a slideshow. It transitions between all the pics and all. Then, you can add your own music to play during the slideshow movie you made. I LOVE IT! I have been playing on it all day working on a slideshow for my FB and blog page after my last chemo. Y'all- talk about cool and very emotional! When I put all the pics in with the music even my husband was like that was so good and emotional. It is not finished because my last chemo is the 14th, but what a tribute to what I have been through since late October. Really check it out, you won't be disappointed with what you can make!
Second- last night I was up from 1-5 am worrying about stuff none of us can control you know! I got a message at 3 am from parent who I have known for 13 years. Taught her youngest kindergarten, then coached her in cheerleading. She is loaded first off! So, she tells me how she won this trip to Cabo at this resort Espap something which is so so fancy. Well, she can't go and her husband and her want my DH and I to take it! They said they would even pay for our flight. She said everything was included and the room could have up to 8 guests but no kids because they are not allowed. We invited our best friends (wife and DH set). The wife has driven my girls to school everyday since I got sick. They have helped us more than anyone even family. This was an awesome way to thank them. So- I am going to Cabo the last week in August which is one month after rads. So blessed!! I have never been out if the country!! Can you believe?! What a gift!
-
Wow--all these great trips. I love Italy Red, and I believe you will too--you can eat your way thru there you know b/c they have better food than we do. The wine is cheaper than water. Any idea what part yet? Also Jodi, your trip sounds great too and what a lovely way to thank your friends. For that matter, I have plans to hop in my car this summer and drive on up to Cape Breton Island in Canada--the Irish music and dance scene there is supposed to be wonderful and I've always wanted to go. So we all go international, eh?
-
Pipers, wish I could join you - Canada, eh? Jodi our trip is in June - we were very happy with the price. I will, for sure, look at your slide show. June are you going anywhere?
-
aw everyone is taking a trip. How nice!!
No trip for me, I need to move at the end of june. But I might head west to visit my sis....
-
chemo- done! Can't wait to have some energy in a week. Only to get it sucked out by rads lol right. One step at a time!! Praying AC got that internal node. Really would like to head into rads cancer free as far as they know. We will see I guess!
-
Hi Jodi! Hi June! Hi Pipers!
Lordy have I been busy but first things first....
JODI!!!!!!! Done Chemo! Hooray for you! I will pray too that you are cancer free and heading into rads just to ensure no recurrence. {{{{hugs}}}} I bet you can't wait for your trip in August. That is so cool the way it went down. Karma baby! lol
June, did you visit your sister yet? Wish I had a sister, or a brother. That would be so cool. I'm pretty close to my female cousins even though we live in different provinces so that's good.
Pipers, I'm starting in Rome, then Verona/Venice, then Florence, then Assissi and back to Rome. 9 days on a bus. lol Cape Breton is absolutely lovely. I have driven around the entire island. You will love it. Can you tell me if you have heard any good things about lemon juice?
Ok I'm beat - headed for bath and bed.
Hugs'n'kisses to you all.
Deb
-
jodi - oh fantastic!! i am so happy for you!!
red - no i haven't. will need to wait. saving money now for apt hunting. it will cost me a lot to move. but i am living too far from work so this is necessary.
the trip sounds fun. you'll have to post some pix for us....
lemon juice is good, bc it alkaline our bodies even though it's sour. i was told to drink it first thing in the morning. and would love to hear what piper says....
piper - how r u?
-
how's everyone?
i found apt and waiting for the approval. it's quite close to my work. it's been 2.5 weeks of hell trying to find an apt. my boss is nice but he's getting frustrated with my performance. i can really tell there's a difference with my energy level after the surgery. it's been 6 months....i think my body is still adjusting. does it really take this long?
-
Absolutely June. I also am having a problem with energy levels. Yes, I believe it takes this long and even longer. In my case, I think it might be the Tamoxifen though. I find the toughest part about working now is that sometimes things are coming at me too fast, if I can stop and think for a second, I'm fine, but if not, I get frustrated.
I'm glad you finally found an apartment close to work. That will take one more thing off of your plate.
Pipers? Jodi? How are you both doing?
{{{{hugs}}}}
-
I am heading to Texas this week for the next 7 weeks. Dry run rads on Tuesday with the 1/33 starting on Wednesday. I have been fighting this since December with chemo. Not counting November's surgery. A long damn time! But, getting there- trying to get there.
So the family is packed and the dog too. We will be off on our summer adventure soon.
-
So while you are in Texas, the family will be vacationing and you will be radiationing? Well, as long as you can get lots of rest sweetie, cuz rads kicks your ass the same as chemo. Lots of naps and hopefully good night's sleep. You on an AI yet? I hope it all goes really well for you Jodi. You deserve to be able to kick this thing to the curb! Give the girls kisses and hugs from me.
I am headed to Italy on Saturday for 9 days. The trip of a lifetime, so I hope it all goes well. Knock on wood. lol. My wedding anniversary I will be on a gondola in Venice with my husband. I hope I get a gondolier who sings. lol
-
Red- have a wonderful and safe trip!!!
My mom or DH will be with me at all times, and I plan on napping while LuLu naps. However, she never took a nap today!!!! Let's hope that is a fluke;)
