I would also be aware of foods that are genetically modified organisms (GMO) as they have been engineered to withstand massive applications of pesticide.  A significant percentage of the corn, soybeans, canola, cotton, papaya, alfalfa, and sugar beets grown in the U.S. are GMO, and these crops are also fed to livestock, so you are eating what they are eating.  On the flip side is the "Clean 15" which are foods that have lower pesticide residues, although I would still buy organic corn.  The 15 are onions, pineapple, avocados, grapefruit, mushrooms, mango, sweet potatoes, peas, cabbage, watermelon, asparagus, eggplant, kiwi, and corn.
