I am 13 days out from nipple reconstruction (both sides) and fat transfer on my R side, which was my cancer side.  4 days ago, I developed lumps in the area of my lymph nodes on my right side.  It is not over where the fat was grafted, but is in the area of the breast and underarm lymph nodes; about 10 of them.  I called PS yesterday and his nurse felt that it was probably inflammed lymph nodes post surgery, but she quickly added that if they are still swollen in 5-7 days, to call my BS and MO.  Has anyone experienced somethign similar?  Logic tells me that the lymph nodes are working overtime post surgery, but there is a piece of my brain that takes me to darker places too.

I had enlarged nodes.  After my lumpectomy my BS told me he couldn't feel them anymore, but also said he would "expect" enlarged nodes after surgery.  So, if they are nodes, I bet it's related to the surgery.

I also had lumps pop up practically overnight about 2 months after my exchange.  After unsuccessfully trying to deny they were there, I ended up having an u/s and was told they were "consistent with" fat necrosis resulting from the surgery.

Thanks for the input.  I am guessing they are enlarged nodes or fat necrosis.  I was due to make an appointment with BS anyway, so I finally scheduled it and go in next week.  If they're still there, I'll ask about it.  Hate having these extra concerns pop up.  Just want to be done!

Lumps are still there.  Saw PS today and he stitched my nipple back together that had split open (non BC side).  He felt the lumps on the BC side.  He said that they are probably fat necrosis, but added that I should see my BS.  I saw BS and he said that he also thought they were probably fat necrosis, but they are really, really close to my cancer area, so he does not want to mess around for long with them.  He said that he was concerned, but not alarmed.  If they are not gone in 3 weeks, I am to call him and we'll take things from there.  The waiting game...my favorite...NOT!
