Rough time with the chemo and or premeds and beyond scared

Options

A week ago I had my first attempt chemo treatment. I say attempt cause I had reactions to both kinds they tried. I was given a ton of steroids, Benadryl, Pepcid and God knows what else. The next day I was given the same premeds and was tried the Herceptin, well after a six hour infusion I had a reaction of breathing problems from that treatment. I then the next day went to the er and was given steroids, Benadryl and Pepcid again. I am still having anxiety to the point I can function with upper back muscle spasms, shakes, hands and feet dripping sweat and waking up with panic attacks and can't even shower and get a panic attack. I had panic attack years ago but never had them lately until the last week's immense cocktail. I am beyond frustrated, mad and really want to say I quit. I am can't function if this is the beginning I don't think I will make it to the end of this treatment process. I will be dead. Anyone have or experience anything like this

Hang in there, I'm sure you will find some great advice from the ladies here. I'm also sure your onc will have other combinations to use that will work. Just want to send encouraging thoughts to you.

One thing I found helpful was when they put ativan in my iv drip--it is a low level anti-anxiety drug and it really worked wonders--just settled me down.  Maybe they could do that for you before you begin- or have you take it at home before you go in..... sometimes just taking deep breaths is not enough....

Shellbell, your onc will continue trying different mixtures until they find something that works for YOU. I agree about the anti-anxiety drug, it certainly can't hurt. Good luck!
