A week ago I had my first attempt chemo treatment. I say attempt cause I had reactions to both kinds they tried. I was given a ton of steroids, Benadryl, Pepcid and God knows what else. The next day I was given the same premeds and was tried the Herceptin, well after a six hour infusion I had a reaction of breathing problems from that treatment. I then the next day went to the er and was given steroids, Benadryl and Pepcid again. I am still having anxiety to the point I can function with upper back muscle spasms, shakes, hands and feet dripping sweat and waking up with panic attacks and can't even shower and get a panic attack. I had panic attack years ago but never had them lately until the last week's immense cocktail. I am beyond frustrated, mad and really want to say I quit. I am can't function if this is the beginning I don't think I will make it to the end of this treatment process. I will be dead. Anyone have or experience anything like this.

    Hi Shellbell

Sorry you are going through this.

Could you give the Chemo Room or Oncology Ward a ring and ask them for advice?

When I was on chemo I had lots of side-effects (sepsis, blood clots, hand-foot syndrome, blisters) and the nurses told me to ring either of the above day or night if I was worried.

I got carted in by ambulance a few times re the above and was given antibiotics and warfarin and recovered well.

But the good news is that two years down the line I am cancer-free and hopefully you will be too.

By the way, the onc had to reduce my dose to 80% of the recommended dose to get me through chemo. Is this an option re your onc?

    Best wishes

    Alice

Alice I too had to have my chemo reduced. I ended up with renal failure due to my other meds and chemo. But the point is not everyone reacts the same way. Call. Some one will be able to help. It could be the steroids but don't guess get help. Not everyone sails through easily but THERE ARE THING THEY CAN DO TO HELP. Hugs and Much love.

I've been on steroids once in my life and I felt like I was jumping out of my skin. I felt very anxious and had a feeling of " false " energy. Like I had to do things but still felt tired. I don't know about the chemo reactions. I hope someone who's experienced with that shows up soon. Hopefully the anxiety will subside as the steroids work thier way out of your body. I'm so sorry you went through all this. I've read many posts of woman who've had to try several drugs before they find what works for them. We are all so different. It wouldn't hurt to look into getting Xanax. We are all going through some pretty intense stuff. It's not bad to need a little help with stress.

Much love to you! Don't give up! They'll find the right combo and you'll get your sea legs, so to speak.
