Vitamin C for chemo side effects

Options

"Fatigue is a common, often debilitating, side effect of cancer chemotherapy. Pharmacologic vitamin C has been used as an alternative treatment for the disease itself but its effects on fatigue have not often been documented. Here we report on the case of a woman with recurrent breast cancer, undergoing weekly chemotherapy, with lethargy as a major symptom. Vitamin C (50 g/session) was administered twice weekly and quality of life and multidimensional fatigue symptomology questionnaires were undertaken. Dramatic decreases in fatigue and insomnia were observed, as well as increased cognitive functioning. There were no adverse side effects of i.v. vitamin C."

I wish there was more information for this one, like how they administered the vitamin C, and how large this study was.

Fallleaves- I had read an article too out of UK last year about Vit C given via IV that was beneficial too. There may well be something to this especially in  re-occurrence cases. I doubt it would benefit in small doses but worth a try.

fallleaves - This was a bit hard to find, and I am having trouble linking it - it either just shows the abstract, or you have to log in to see it, but one of the links that comes up when you google the citation shows the whole article in PDF. This was a study of 27 participants, which dropped to 25, later stage ovarian cancer patients treated with carboplatin and paclitaxel.  The vitamin C was infused intravenously.
