My mother diagnosis with breast Cancer on oct 2012. She had chemo(TAC) for six month then she had surgery. After , her surgery the doctor came to know the cancer spread on pictorial muscles. So , they had to do another surgery . She had another surgery. After , her second surgery she started radiation for three months. Its almost four months ago she done with radiation . But , she has still pain. I thought she will be fine after radiation but she has different issues . She is taking Arimidix and oxsicodine for pain. She do some exercise and try to eat healthy.

Mostly  she has lots of pain in her arm , shoulder . back. Specially in her arm and she feel heavy.

One time she was not able to move her arm but after few days she started to move like it use to be.

Then she had urinary tract infection.

She was admit in hospital for few day . They gave her antibiotics through IV.  My question is that how long its going to take her to heal?

I had to resign from my job. I am the only one who taking care her. We are going through financial hardship. She don't have any health insurance too. I want she heal then I can focus my life.

I am so sorry to hear that your mom is having such a hard time. This is not an easy thing, that is for sure.  I can relate to some extent because I'm still dealing with pain and frustration myself.  No one told me beforehand.  All the doctors were like, "No big deal, you just need to have this little surgery and then heal up and go back to your life."  Boy, was that wrong!!!

They had to take part of my chest muscle too, and found positive lymph nodes so I had to do chemo and radiation, and it's now been a year and a half from that "little surgery" and I still have pain around the scar and in armpit.  I don't really think there is anything to be done about it.  I can't take pain meds. Tried PT, didn't help much.  I suppose I just have to get used to the "new normal".

So I really sympathize with you both and I wish I had some better suggestions to offer.  Maybe someone else will.  In the meantime tell her that it does get somewhat better over time - very slowly over lots of time - or maybe we just get used to it after awhile.  In any case it hasn't gotten worse.

Hello, how is your mum doing?  I have similar pain under my right armpit (where my scar is from sentinel biopsy) and down along muscles towards my breast.  I have been to my first surgery follow up (6 months) and the physio told me I have fluid building up in my right arm - nodes not doing their job properly and yes they are still all there - so she gave me exercises to help drain this fluid via my nodes.  And some of my muscles around there are contracting, so more exercises to do.

When I do these exercises (usually in front of the TV) some muscles are really tender and it's almost crippling when I try to massage them.

I am going back there in June to make sure Im doing it all the right way
