    27.  I am thinking chemo is in my near future.  I meet with the onc at 3 to discuss further.  I wish my score would have been either low or high.  This in the middle stuff isn't my thing.  ;)

What would you do with a score of 27 along with my stats?  I'm 40 yrs old if that makes a difference.

shanitis, there are at least two lengthy threads here called Oncotype Rollcalls where members indicate their Oncotype score and chemo decision.  Use the Search feature (to the left) to look for them.  27 is actually on the high side of that intermediate range, and I think you will find that unless they have pre-existing medical conditions, most women with a score of 27 would opt for chemo.  And I think sometimes it just gets down to the question, "If you didn't do chemo and had a recurrence, would you kick yourself for skipping chemo?"

Another thing you can do is get multiple opinions from two or three oncs, because, surprisingly, they don't all think alike, and considering several opinions and the information they each give you can help solidify your decision either way.

    Good luck!  (((Hugs)))  Deanna

disclaimer, I am 4 years past this decision, so I may be behind the times

I think there is enough benefit to make chemo worthwhile, especially at the age 40.

But I feel like I have seen other high intermediates take a pass.

Please try to get the full report with the charts, seeing where the benefit kicks in on the graph was very helpful to me,

At 22 it was such a tiny little slice of pie I couldn't sell my self on it. At 27 statistically there is some benefit, though that depends on how scientific you want to be about it.

I might consider CMF, that is what they sometimes give the borderline people at my cancer center.

Shanitis,   I had a score of 24 and I opted for chemo and I am 64.  .  I don't think any of us would tell you what to do in your circumstance, except to get a second opinion (as Deanna suggests) if you are not comfortable with your doctor's recommendation and once you make your decision, don't look back and wonder what might have been.  There are just no easy decisions with this disease.   I definitely didn't want to do chemo and when I got my score, I felt exactly as you do.  DARN!!   I'm happy with all the decisions I have made so far and I hope you feel the same way.  If you decide to do chemo, there are some great forums that lend support through the process.  Sharing is truly caring!

    Good luck to you, hon.
