Worried with kids
I am 34 years old with a family history of BC. I found a "lump" in my right breast. I went to my dr who also felt it and sent me too get a mammo and a ultrasound. Mammo and ultrasound reviewed that I have a 2cm immobile solid mass with a area of microcalcification. I have to get a biopsy both ultrasound and stereoecctic on Friday. I have to say that I feel as though the dr is leaning more towards CA with the way he was talking to me about everything and examining it. Am I crazy or does it sound this way. I am a strong person and feel as though I can face many things but the not knowing is killing me. Please help!

Hi Cammy - I'm sorry you are dealing with the uncertainty. Do you know if they gave you a B-rad rating (other than 0 - which means they don't know)? Take things a step at a time. In any case it is helpful to get full copies of all your reports. Try to do something to take your mind off things. The odds are definitely in your favor that this is not BC. I know it is scary. Gentle hug.

Cammy, sorry that you have to go through this, at such a young age with small kiddos. I think the stats are 80% of biopsies are benign.
Those stats of course mean nothing when you are scared & worried. Did they give you a birad score ? It rates the level of suspicion. I was clueless about it, never asked. Try to stay busy this week, you can always call in & tell them you would be willing to come in if they have a cancellation.
Keep us posted...

no birad score I did not ask I wish I did I am going to call tomorrow and find out. Thank you for responding. The way that he explained it I felt as though he was sure it was bad. I am worried and YES scared but I am a positive person it just waiting that sucks!

He explained to me that the microcalcification can be normal but with a mass in the area it is a concern. He explained to me that he is going to take three samples with biopsy. I read that micro calcification can be normal but when in a cluster is when is presents a problem. I think it is even more bothersome that the mass is in the same area. I am just nervous.

hello so I spoke with dr and he explained that the birad was a 4c. He said that the microcalcification were in one large are and presenting premorlogical(not sure) also that it was line assemitrical. He said with my age this is unusual. Biopsy is Friday I am wondering if it is what I think, please help me figure this out. This wait is worse then anything!

Unfortunately, no one can tell you for sure whether or not you have breast cancer. If they could know for sure without a biopsy, you wouldn't be having the biopsy. For almost all breast cancer, the person who diagnoses you is the pathologist, looking at a piece of tissue under the microscope.
- What does BI-RADS 4 mean? BI-RADS 4 means that the findings on your
mammogram are suspicious and that there is approximately a 23% to 34%
chance that this is breast cancer. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/524584_5
Hang in there. No matter what the outcome, there will be people on this site who have been in the same situation and can give you support.
