how long were you sore after MX?

It is day 8 after my UMX. I had no nodes removed, and no reconstruction. Yesterday and today I'm especially sore and more swollen under my armpit and but everywhere else looks improved and less swollen. It's not red or "hot" just more sore than before. It is uncomfortable to rest my arm flat against my side.

I'd love to get some feedback from you all on the soreness you experienced. I've had a surprisingly easy recovery otherwise (considering my lupus and all), so I wasn't really expecting this. Maybe I should have. : )

Thanks.

Glad you are home and feeling better than expected overall. The UMX arm soreness seemed to last a good few weeks.   I don't know if that's because the surgery area in my chest felt numb/asleep for a while and arm had more feeling.  Like you, I felt better overall than I would have guessed but the arm pain was quite bothersome.  Couldn't sleep on left side for about 4-5 weeks.   Returned to clerical job after 3 weeks and arm would be achy at end of day but not unbearable.

I didn't have a lot of frank pain, but did have soreness for a few weeks. I went back to work about two and a half weeks after surgery (just teaching two mornings a week, not stressful or requiring a lot of exertion), and it seemed to get better as I got more into my normal routine.

Edited to add that I had BMX--I should read better the next time! :)

I hurt for about 5-6 weeks.  I know some local women that had similar reconstruction as me but had their BMX years before.  They were feeling much better by 4  weeks, but I was still very uncomfortable for a week or two because of the BMX.  Every day gets better!
