Chemo Pills??

Options

My BS made a note on my sheet when she was writing notes for me at my dx, in the area of treatment,"Chemo Pills". I don't know if I will need Chemo just yet , but has anyone taken the pills instead of IV? Is it a lower dosage?

HomeMom, looking at the list of Chemotherapy Medicines at the main Breastcancer.org site, we see only a couple of them that list a possible pill form; the majority are given intravenously. Did your doctor say which chemo drug/s you might be getting, if they're needed?

Homemom, hello.  Only your doctor knows what he/she meant by the term chemo pills.  My oncologist refers to all anti-hormonals as chemotherapy and these are all taken in pill form.   There are very few traditional chemotherapy agents that are administered in pill form, so I think that your doctor is expecting that you will be taking anti-hormonals.

She just said that she felt good about me not needing Chemo, but next to her notes where she noted the three instances where I would need chemo, she wrote "chemo pills".

Thanks for the answers. Tomorrow is my surgery and I'm hoping for the best!
