Just diagnosed and scared
I was just told I have IDC grade 3. I have an appointment today to see what the next steps are. I am in shock and scared. I will also know if it it hormone fed. I don't know what to expect today. Yesterday I was alone in the house as my DH had to take my DD back to college and I lost it. Good thing no one was home. Did anyone grieve? That us what it felt like. Also just cried out I don't want to do this! It seems so unreal at times. Other times it smacks me in the face. Thank you for letting me vent.

yes...I think we have all grieved for life as we knew it before the diagnosis.....and also after all,the surgeries and treatments. It's normal. Once you and your doctors have a plan, you will be able to go into your fight mode. Ask for sleep, anxiety or depressions meds. Don't be shy. Now is the time to put yourself first. It will get better. I've always felt that it's the emotional battle that is the hardest. At least it is for me. You will find support from all of us, no matter what stage we are. So vent away......we have your back.

Hi.
I was just diagnosed a week ago. It literally put me to the floor in the middle of the breast clinic. I'm not a very emotional person and I absolutely lost it. I have a blog post up about that day, but its probably a lot for people to read who are in the middle of it themselves.

mompv, grief, anxiety, anger, depression are all part of the breast cancer nightmare. Acceptance comes slowly, and getting back to normal is very difficult.
Somehow, we plow through the surgery and other treatments. If you get to skip chemo, it's a blessing. Take one day at a time, be gentle with yourself. I thought I would be back to normal 2 weeks after my last chemo....wrong, it's been 4 months post chemo and I am just starting to have a more normal attitude & life. I still obsessively dwell on the uncertainty of my situation but, I am more comfortable being in groups of people and social situations.
Post away, ask lots of ?. Join a thread when you have surgery with other ladies going through the same time frame. Let us know how your appt. goes...

Thank you all! This board is a blessing! I know I am going to the best place, Roswell Cancer Institute. One day at a time is what I keep telling myself.

ok..MRI scheduled on the 10th. Dr appt on the 14th. They are going to do chemo first for 6 months then hopefully it will be small enough for a lumpectomy. She said it is very curable!!!! I am relieved on one hand and nervous about chemo on the other. Babysteps!

Hello Renee, so sorry you've had to join the club here, but it is a great place to get support and advice if you need it.
You don't mention what your Dx is, but I assume you are deciding between lumpectomy and Mastectomy. It is tough, but there is lots of very good information here as well as a wealth of experience from the members. Just ask and there will be someone there to help out.
I wish you all the very best!
