Vaseline gauze vs hydrogel gauze for desquamation?

Hi all,

I'm 7 days post rads (MX, no recon) and my chest is still oozing and exuding gunk (normal, they tell me). RO's office gave me the Vaseline embedded gauze packets, but I've read several places that recommend hydrogel embedded gauze. Does anyone know if one is better, or if they're equivalent or if it depends on the severity of the skin desquamation? And can hydrogel gauze be found at the pharmacy? Is it over the counter or do I need a script

    bump

Or, anyone know when I can ditch the Vaseline gauze? What should I be looking for on my skin? I feel a bit better today, but it's still oozing.

What finally healed my VERY bad burns was doing Domoboro soaks.

There were no 'bandages' that would stay pn.

I used a gel bandage for my RAD burns. Not home right now, so I can't come up with the name. I had to order them from Texas. PM me if you want the info on these.

Thanks, I also just don't know how long to expect the oozing (exudate, in official terms) and how long is ok. I saw the RO last Friday (4 days post rads) and it's now 8 days and still oozing. I guess the oozy area is a little smaller, but it's hard to tell. I guess I'll call tomorrow and ask the nurse. Ugh.
