Why does my abdomen hurt?
I went to the doctor in Sept 2013 with the complaint of mild pain in my upper right abdomen (2 months prior to BC DX ) Doctor thought I might have diverticulosis and sent me for CT scan and put me on meds.
CT showed no diverticulosis, no masses in liver, gallbladder, pancreas, etc. just follicular cysts on both ovaries.
I went to GI and had HIDA test for gallbladder and liver function (came back clear) and colonoscopy and endoscopy were both good.
But my abdomen (to the right of my stomach)!still hurts, especially when I am hungry.
Long winded , sorry...does this sound like it could be mets? Or would those tests have ruled that out?
Thanks!

Sounds more like stomach ulcers to me. I had those and the pain was worst when my stomach was empty. The pain was what I'd call a "gnawing" pain - and I told everyone, now I know why they call it that - it feels just like there is a rodent in there trying to gnaw its way out! LOL
I would certainly check with your docs first, but if they tell you that all your tests have ruled out anything more serious, and if they think it sounds like ulcers, try taking omeprazole for a couple weeks. It was a miracle drug for me. Zero pain after 2 or 3 days.

Andrea,
Sounds like you have had the right tests already. I had H-pylori 3 years ago. It causes stomach ulcers. It is a bacteria in your stomach acid. It is an easy blood test. I think the advice on the Omperazole is good also.
Keep us posted, hope you get answers soon.

Jennie93 and Holeinone, thank you for your replies. You know, my dad had a bacterial ulcer many years ago and he also said that what I had could be an ulcer too. Then my GI did and endoscopy and took biopsies of my stomach and ruled that out. But I am not convinced.
I didn't realize there was a blood test I could get that would tell me. The pain is definitely "gnawing". I get another endoscope in June. I do have a small hiatus hernia, but that is not near the pain.
I have been on Omeprazole since January for heartburn.
I will follow up on this and check again for ulcers. Thank you again.
Take care,
Andrea
