Hi,

I feel very lucky to have received my final path report which showed only one area 5.5mm DCIS (I had a bmx because I found out I am BRCA +).  But initially I had two areas of calcifications on mammogram and two stereotactic biopsies both of which were positive for DCIS.  Now I'm wondering why the final path report didn't mention the second area of DCIS. Is it possible it was all removed by the stereotactic biopsy or did they miss it?  I know I'm being paranoid but how can you be sure they didn't miss anything anywhere else in my breast tissue?  My single sentinel node was negative.

On the other hand, I'm celebrating to not need chemo or radiation.

If I were you, I would ask your doctor to be sure, but yes, it is possible if the area is small enough for it all to be removed during the stereotactic biopsy - that's what happened to me ... the lumpectomy found no additional areas of cancer other than what had been found on the initial biopsy.

Same thing happened to me - my IDC was removed in the first biopsy and two small areas of DCIS were removed in a MRI guided core biopsy.  It could also be that the two areas originally seen on the mammogram were part of one continuous foci of DCIS and it was not apparent until the whole mass was removed.
