    I just finished my chemo post my triple negative diagnosis.

    I wish...I live for the next five years, to post my name on this thread... Will wait for that day!

    10 years. I always liked to hear positive survivor stories when I was going through treatment. Still do. I hope these posts encourage and help others.

    As of February 1, I became a seven-year survivor. How time flies! I went through chemo, rads and five years of Tamoxifen, in addition to complementary treatments (acupuncture really helped in getting my energy back up post-treatment!). I'm now as healthy as I was before BC, and yes, my hair grew back and now it's super-thick and shiny. (I'm a bit chunkier, alas, but at age 50 that probably would have happened anyway. Middle age and gravity will have their way.)

    I was stage 2b at diagnosis, and just this close >< to stage III - one more positive lymph node and I would have been bumped up to stage III. Positive nodes and all, I'm still here! I hardly ever visit the boards any more, having moved on with my life, which is full and busy.

    Hi all....I was 5 years out from chemo Feb.18th, but I can do better than that.  My mom is a 38 year BC survivor and will be 94 in May.  Did I mention a very spry 94?     WooHoo!!

    Hi, I will be an 8 year survivor in May. Had a mastectomy ( right ) but no chemo or rads. I was stage 1b. No nodes involved, but developed lymphedema. My onco said I could be a poster girl for mammograms. Mine could easily have been missed, but I had a good  person reading the mammo. I  thank God everyday for the gift of time He has given me. I will be 70 in September. Hope this helps give some one hope.

    Six years has gone by, kinda hard to believe.  2008 lumpectomy followed by 7 weeks radiations.  Thought I had put it all behind me, then---  2013 BMX  and still working on revisions(April 21 surgery/fat transfer to improve the rad boob) Life has improved so much since then and has been enjoyed with more intensity daily.  Congratulations to all of the pink warriors out there!!  You inspire and set a fire under me!

    My friends aunt had breast cancer for 20 years and fought it. Then it came back. Sad that she had to lose both breast to keep it from coming back a year later. But at least she had to do what ever it takes to save her life. Now she is healthy and cancer free. My friends mom had cancer for many years to and beat the fuck out of it as well. You ladies are amazing fighters I love you all. Even though you have breast cancer it is not the end of your life  Do your part by exercising and eating healthy. Even though I havent been dx yet I just thought I share this with the newbies and everyone else

    Congrats  !!!   I was at Stage 0, high grade 3 necrotic, comedo with Er- Pr- but HER2 positive...  I just started week 3 of radiation.   Is there anything you can tell me about the HER2 positive that is worth sharing?   I saw 3 oncologists & 2 wanted me in a clinical trial for Herceptin - the 3rd consult said no guarantees whether it would help b/c DCIS at Stage 0 is just pre-cancer but he wants me on Tamoxifen even though I am Er-   makes no sense BUT he said in CASE I get a recurrence, it could be ER positive...   All of this is so confusing.

    Plus, I indulge in one-two glasses of wine almost nightly and read somewhere that there is a correlation between HER2 positive and alcohol.   Any info you can share ?

    Jazzingersey Ask your oncologist but my understanding is DCIS can be HER2+ but doesn't always mean that if it goes invasive it will be HER2+. There is still a lot of mystery about how breast cancer behaves. Since you have DCIS it puts you at a great risk than those never diagnosed for getting a new breast cancer in the future... and I don't think hormone status now will make a difference. Taking Tamoxifen as a preventative has shown excellent results but of course it is very dependent on your circumstance. I'm not saying you should or shouldn't. Try to connect with beesie on this site. She is the most knowledgeable regarding DCIS.
