NASM123 - A dermatologist can do a biopsy for IBC. It may be worthwhile to see if you can see a dermatologist this coming week. Hopefully, the results will be benign but if they are positive you would have results when you go to your appointment at U of A. I'm really sorry that your doctors are not taking your concern seriously because of your age.

so today it is purple and red. I touched it a while ago and now there is a bruise the size of my finger where i touched it. I can also feel a thickening of skin or a mass about 3cm long. It isn't very painful, but still warm to the touch and tender.

NASM123, I dont know how you manage to get through these days without any support from these doctors. I check the board every day hoping that you will put a post up to say that it isn't IBC, as you are so young. These doctors don't seem to have a conscience. Oh well, you don't have to wait much longer before the 31st, and I hope that your doctor takes the right path to rule out IBC. Keep in touch and focus on your family in the meantime. ((hugs))

Every second counts with possible IBC,its already at stage 3 when diagnosed,so stage 4 comes quickly after stage 3,,,within weeks,,,so tell your DOC to forget antibiotic crap and get a biopsy..we tell you this coz we care,,,,,

Ok, great news everyone following me! I just got a call from the Oncologist assistant. She said that the oncologist is confused as to why Im entering my 3rd week on a 3rd antibiotic and said I need to come in to see him on Wednesday at 1pm. I am finally able to relax for a bit and I feel so much relief. I will finally be getting a diagnosis soon. Even if it's not cancer, it's something that antibiotics cant fix. I need to know

I'm sorry that the antibiotics haven't helped, but I'm glad you're getting in soon.  Please let us know how the appointment goes.

    Hello,

I don't have IBC but last year, I went through a lot of anguish until they found what I had (crazy fibrocystic breasts).

I would recommend that you write down any questions you have and take them with you - it will help you focus.

    Good luck

Of course you're anxious about the appointment.  Can you do something really special and fun with your kids?  Get a sitter and have a date night with your husband where you get all dressed up and talk about anything other than this?  Walk or hike outside if the weather allows and breathe.  You've fought hard to do what you need to do - now it's out of your hands for a couple of days and you deserve a break from it (easier said than done I know).

Call your Dr ASAP if you have changes  in the area since biopsy done.  It's always better to at least call and let them make the decision of rather or not it's something to be comcerned about.

     Hi,

After my punch biopsy (actually 3 done at once in 3 different areas) I had bruising for the first time. Try icing it -- 20 minutes of cloth covered ice, then a break and repeat. If that doesn't help, call your doc. I'm surprised your weren't sent home with ice as part of the treatment.

    Thinking of you,

    bride

My breast was pretty bruised and looked much worse after the biopsy as well. Ice was good but let your doctor know too. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for your results, but at the same time I am so relieved that finally you are being seen to and you will have your diagnosis soon.

    Hello Ladies,

It seems as if it just keeps getting worse, the bruising has become minimal, but something scary just happened, I have been having a lot of pain and decided to squeeze my nipple just barely, and there is like this really bloody milky substance, I then squeezed the other unaffected (right) nipple, and it was a milky substance that had come out.

    need some encouragement

    prayers

    anything, I dont mind.

Sweetie, I have not posted but have been waiting for your results along with everyone else. I am praying for you and hoping that whatever is going on is an infection. I am so glad that you are finally seeing a doctor and had the biopsy. I hope you get some answers and some relief very soon. We are here for you no matter what the outcome. I know you are scared. Breast cancer is evil and sneaky and someone as young as you should not have to even think about his awful disease. Just know we are here! xoxo

I would put in a call to the Specialist.  It is better to call when something seems to be getting worse and let the DRs make the call on what is going on.  Especially as today is Friday and many pffices/clinis will be closed over the weekend if the Dr feels you should be seen.

I wish my results would get here sooner.. I'm worried I wont be able to handle breast cancer if it is. I mean, I wont have a choice, but I have two very small children and I am the primary caregiver. My husband works a lot. I have my little sis who can help me, but she wont always be able to be here.

Just feeling low so i had to post

    Hi Sweetie,

It is so hard to wait for results - try as best you can to be active doing something - anything that will help to keep your mind off of it. You are right, if it is the worst, you will be able to handle it. But right now, remember that we're all sending out our best thoughts and hopes for you that this is some lousy infection that is just tenacious. Many hugs.

Ziggy is right. There are new strains of bacteria which are very resistant to antibiotics. Not that this would be great news for you to hear, but certainly better than IBC. And keep in mind that the odds of not having cancer are completely in your favor. ((((HUGS))))
