    Thanks, Nihani.  I will update my profile.  I just realized my new date is a holiday down here.  Cinco de Mayo.  I wonder if they will let me have a Margarita in my IV?

    I found and joined a group on Facebook that is totally about Post Mastectomy Pain.  Some of these poor women have been suffering for years.  I feel terribly for them.  They try everything from nerve blocks, heavy duty nerve medications. constant PT, and nobody is getting any relief.  What is interesting is some women have pain from something as small as a lumpectomy with a sentinel node biopsy, and another could have had a full bmx with nodes taken on both sides and not have nearly the pain the other has.  They really need to figure out why some women are left practically disabled from mx's, and other's just get on with it with no problems.  I am hoping, and praying my diep solves my iron bra problem. I am willing to take the chance, especially since so many of you found relief from iron bra without even realizing it was going to work out that way, and because my surgeon thinks it will help.

    Hello sweet virtual friends! I have been following posts and sending good thoughts to each of you who are heading into surgery soon or on the other side and healing. It is so reassuring to hear others say they are pleased with their choice to do the flap and to collect all the helpful information that is being shared. Lemon and Goldie I will be sharing Cinco De Mayo date of May 5th with you. Just found out recently, going to San Antonio and will have Dr Pisano. Katski wasn't he your dr too? Hopefully Wilbur can be in 3 places at once!! :) I'm with you Goldie, margarita in the IV sounds pretty good! Did anyone have any issues with MO not wanting to stop aromatase inhibitor for surgery? It kinda freaks me out to be off of it for awhile since my MO wasn't too crazy about the idea.

    Can any of you advise me on the size and type of wedge pillow you purchased?  I recently bought an inexpensive one from a medical supply store but am second guessing myself and wondering whether or not I should opt for a memory foam pillow that I can order online instead. I'd like to do my best to sleep as well as possible. Thanks!

    I have this perfectly great memory foam wedge pillow I wish I could give to somebody, but once you unpack them and they GROW into their shape, there is no shipping them to anybody.  I just don't use mine.  I might give it to the grandkids to lean on when they play video games. 

    Okay, on May 5th I think you all should have a Margarita to wish Lemon, Georgiegirl and me an easy voyage!!!!  Hey, it is an official holiday in Texas!!!!!  I think you should all raise a glass at lunchtime.  Your bosses, if you work, will love that!!!!!

    Etoile so glad your surgery was a go. Hope you are resting comfortably. Teach glad you got untethered as Annajo said. I had my mastectomy drains in for a month and they were a drag, not to mention not all that comfortable. A necessary evil I guess.  Lemon, I agree it is nice to have some company in dreamland! Goldie, awesome idea about the girls having a margarita that day! A toast to new boobs and Cinco de Mayo! P.S meant to congratulate you on the job! That is cause for additional celebration! :)

    georgiegirl... I had my surgery thru PRMA, not Dr. Pisano but they are all great.  I'm 6 days out of surgery and everything has gone exactly how they told me.  All you Cinco de Mayo girls I live in San Antonio so will be right there with you sending healing thoughts on that day.  

    One thing I just discovered today was the shirts I bought before hand even with a size larger just weren't big enough with all the extra padding and drains.  My husband got one of his fishing shirts out and it is perfect.  Very comfy and cool in the Texas heat.

    KooKoo - I'll be there over night plus a few more. I'll listen out for your name in pre-op. Will they be calling you KooKoo? Listen out for Terri. I'll be in town beginning 4/7 for pre-op.

    Teacher - REJOICE REJOICE

    goldie - my precious baby boy was born on Cinco de Mayo. It's a very good day!

    Everyone - I am one week away! I am so excited and not at all afraid. THANK YOU ALL!

    Tamoxifen - My MO was not at all opposed to my stopping Tamoxifen 3 weeks pre and post op. I think he feels like we can get caught up in all of the prevention strategies and miss out on real life. I've decided that was best for me. Blood clots are a big deal.

    Hey Wynne!! I do remember reading that you were in S.A. and went thru PRMA. I still have the "fog" going on…Today went to a doctor's appt I thought I had but no-it's next week. Had it written down in my calendar right but my brain was already into next week. I've done that twice now. I sure hope that gets better as time goes by. LOL! I am so glad to hear of your good experiences with PRMA. I have been impressed so far with all the correspondence and the consult. Good to know about the shirt situation. Did you find the same situation with pants? I bought some pj's one size larger and thought I could cut the elastic on the waist band. Now I am wondering if the tops will fit! Got em at the thrift store so may save them for when I am less swollen and padded! Also found the cutest maternity shorts (someone else mentioned those on this thread). Thrift stores and garage sales sure help when you're trying to keep costs down!

    Georgiegirl... I just had my surgery on March 20 with Dr. Pisano.  You will love him & Gina.  The hospital was great too.  I see him tomorrow for the last time before heading back to Oklahoma.  I got t-shirts & pants that were 1 size larger & they've been fine but I didn't seem to swell much.  They told me to get shoestrings to attach the drains to in the shower but I didn't ever use them.  They give you a strap to use. 

    Ashira...get the tallest one you can find.  The lower you're laying the more strain you put on your stomach when you need to sit up & believe me you won't want to put any more strain on it than you have. 

    I see my PS for the last time tomorrow before finally heading home.  Yay!  I was hoping to get at least one of my tummy drains removed but the one that had the lowest output all along decided today to start putting out more.  Dang drain!  Oh well, what's a few more days with the pesky things.

    georgiegirl...  The pj pants worked fine as did the pj tops I bought.  It was just the shirts to wear when I go out to dr appts that didn't work well.  These dang drains are seriously the worst part so far. Where do you live? Let me know if you need any help with anything while you are here.  By the time you have your surgery I should be in good enough shape to help you if you need it.

    Tbrady, I like that your son was born on Cinco de Mayo. That will give the three of us having surgery that day good luck.

    Georgie, I don't know what's going to feel good to wear, the slight compression of a pair of Yoga Pants, or loose and comfy pajama bottoms.  It will be so warm in Texas by the time I have my surgery that I am planning on wearing summer nightgowns in the house, and summer dresses when I go out. I have some high waisted soft compression panties I can wear if I need to support my tummy.

    For all the Cinco de Mayo chicks, I will look at a margarita for you because one of those things sets me on my rear! I will drink my water and pretend it's high octane! I believe Wilbur is like Santa, magic for all.

    Nihani, I finally remembered to ask Kuka about tummy compression after DIEP.  Nope, no compression on tummy, just sports bra.  Yeah!!!!!

    I am getting excited tonight more than nervous, of course that will change quickly.

    I have not had my bmx yet, am I the only one? Did anyone recently have nipple sparing? I have looked at some many pictures but there are few that show nipple sparing. I know Maggie had it successfully so I am hoping to be as lucky as her. I really want to see my PS again before the big day. I saw him in January and have questions. I have a 6" scar on my bikini line, do you think they can use this scar or incorporate it so it wont be there any longer? Did anyone else have a hysterectomy or cesarean scar? My PS just wrote the scar had healed nicely but nothing else about using it. Its only 6 months old but it looks really good and is fading well. I just feel like I will look like Raggedy Ann all sew back together. I then  I think it was Donna and SpongeBob.. so SpongeBob Raggedy Ann.. not such a pretty picture is it? LOL  ....

    hi all! Does any one have experience with fluid leaking from nipple incession? I had mastectomy (right) and immediate diep on march 19th. Dr removed my breast drain yesterday. Now lower right side feels even more swollen, bruised and yellowish fluid leaking (sometimes even dripping). Is it normal? I noticed some leakage/ wetness in the area and told my Dr. Yesterday but she said it is ok. But it is definitely leaking more. Any idea?

    tlbradyful - I don't believe in coincidence but ..... In preop next week when they say "Terri" be sure they are talking to you and not me!  How cool is that?!?  My name is Terri with 2 r's and an I too!  Beautiful name you have there!  I will also be going down the evening of the 7th for preop visits on the 8th.  Was told I would be discharged on 12th barring any complications. No nervousness here either, in fact, looking forward to it all except those darn drain tubes!

    Didn't sleep well because stomach was twitching all night. Doc gave me Valium to relax, said it would help with spasms. Not. Maybe at margarita isn't such a bad idea!

    Set my phone alarm for  Cinco de Mayo (my memory still sucks blaming chemo fog - I blame a lot on chemo fog) I will be toasting you wonderful ladies and wishing you a speedy recovery
