Weekly Taxol
I´m starting a new topic if some men want to share their experience with Taxol. There is another topic in another forum about this subject, Weekly Taxol Group , but I decided to open a new topic here because the side effects can be different from women.
I had my first Taxol infusion on Jan 13 and had no immediate side effects. First was injected the following medications to avoid nausea:
Dexamethasone (Decadron) , Ondansetron (Zofran) , Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) and Ranitidine.
After all these medications was injected Placlitaxel (Taxol) 3 hours, my dose was 80 mg/m2 ( body surface area unit).
I had some problems to sleep that I think is due to Decadron. My chemo
started with Taxol and the hardest part (FEC) will be after 12 weeks of
Taxol (T-FEC regimen).

My husband is 8 months post treatment. Taxol was more tolerable for him then doxi. He also experienced lots of difficulty sleeping. Dexamethasone is a steroid and can cause this side effect. Hiccups were an annoying side effect for him. He took sleeping pills on a regular basis during treatment. He also took strong pro biotics to help with the gastrol effects which were cumulative.
Neuropathy did become a problem for my husband towards the end of treatment. His biggest challenge was walking any distance as his legs felt like lead. This has greatly improved in time.
Wishing you all the best.

I finished my Taxol treatment and I do not have many hard side effects. My hair begun to drop after 3 weeks of taxol. I had mild diarrhea once, bloody nose a few times and my major problem was flatulence but I do not know if was caused by omeprazol.
My WBC was almost normal during all taxol infusions, my RBC was a little bit lower than normal, around 12 , normal range in my exams are above 13,5.
I did not have any symptoms of neuropathy until now.
I basically lived a normal life during this first 12 weeks of my chemo. I used public transportation and eat crude vegetables at restaurants and could work normally except the day of infusion.
This month I will begin FEC regimen and I think will be much harder than Taxol.
I liked to start my treatment with weekly Taxol, at least I had more 3 months to adjust my life ( work and family) to what I imagine that will be the hardest part of chemo treatment.
