Dancing with the Stars

Cheryl, they're giving him the props so we can distracted and not see how bad he is.
-
Maddy it's not working, we can see how bad he is
-
Cheryl, lol!

When I was in high school Harry Belafonte did a TV special. Just dad and I were watching and I had the ironing board set up and was ironing dad's white shirts for work. I was a very naïve 15 yr old who had never gotten beyond a few kisses. When Harry started dancing I was mesmerized. At the time I didn't know why I was so fascinated. When the dance was over. I discovered I had scorched the back of dad's shirt. He just grinned and said My little girl is growing up. Told DH the story so when Belafonte came to Seattle in the late 80's he took me to the concert. He wasn't as slow as BillyDee but I almost wished he hadn't tried to dance. His voice was worth the concert.

Chabba I know I don't feel old but sometimes there's an old wrinkly face staring back at me in the mirror....
-
Chabba, great story!
cheryl, lol, yep, the distractions aren't helping hide Billy Dee's flaws. Interesting comment about how handsome he was in his prime.
I also had the very same thought about Sean Avery: that they chose the double elimination to get rid of him.
I read that the professionals aren't too keen on how they don't know ahead of time the order in which they're going to dance.
-
thanks Chabba for the story!
I'm wondering if Sean was causing problems behind the scenes (after he started the competition) and this was a way to be rid of him
-
Chabba, my mother had a similar ironing board experience.....but hers was with Frank Sinatra!!!
-
He was the heartthrob of the time!
-
Overall, I liked tonight's show. I missed a few dances here and there as I was talking with my son on the phone. I can't even figure out if someone was eliminated?
Meryl and Maks, Charlie and Sharna....wow, they bring a lot to the dance floor. Either of them could take the trophy. I cried after watching Amy Purdy dance with Derek. She just makes my jaw drop.
It was fun seeing 'Kimmie Gibler' and "Rebecca' visiting 'DJ'.
-
Btw, Robin Roberts did well as a judge! She was one of the better guest judges, imo!
-
I thought the same about Robin. Usually I dislike guest judges, but she was really spot on.
I thought it was a great night. I was crying before Amy even danced. Loved James, Danika, Meryl & Charlie (What score did he get? I was on the phone.)
So they will only change partners for next week & then go back to their original partners, I don't see much sense in that.
If they ask me to go on the show when I am 77 and/or develop chronic back problems, remind me to decline the honor.
-
ditto. LOL. Robin was good and Amy was fantastic.
-
I loved Danica and Amy and agree that Robin was a great guest judge.
-
I agree with all the previous comments.
I had tears even before Amy started to dance. Meryl keeps overcoming her shyness, great attraction between her and Maks.
I thought Erin looked classy tonight. So much better than her breasts hanging out and she seems more comfortable interviewing the dancers.
-
Erin wasn't bad but I thought maybe a little too dressed down for the occassion.
Love seeing Meryl come out of her shell.
Was anyone eliminated?
-
Billy.
-
Oh, I missed that somehow. But gosh, I didn't even remember he was on the show...lol...yes, he needed to be eliminated.
-
Maybe his doctor's slip was a nicer way to give him the boot.
-
I think you're on to something there, Ruth.
-
I saw him eliminated but I missed the Dr note? LOL. Interesting.
-
woo-hoo, it's Monday! Wondering what the change-up will be like?
-
Me too!
-
ooooohhhh! The STARS are out tonight. Not to mention HOT HOT HOT!!!!#
-
oooo, lots of you are watching it now.....
-
WOW! Meryl and Val!!! That was one of the hottest dances I've ever seen on DWTS! And I'm not a fan of the Argentine tango, but I sure loved that one.
-
I am really enjoying this season! I was happy with the partner switch-up; it went well and added another layer to the mix.
What about how the music was off for a few of the dances. Harold Wheeler and his band never had that trouble!
I thought Julianne was good as a judge. Whoa! What about her dress? And do you think her hair was a wig? I liked her look.
The hair, make-up and costuming this season is great. I loved Cheryl & James, Drew Carey and his partner, Peta & Charlie, Cody & Sharna. I loved Sharna's dress, all white and flowy.
Amy and Mark were great, too. I get teary eyed every single time Amy is on. She just amazes me.
Erin wasn't too bad altho by the end of the night she just kept asking the same dull question.
Meryl and Val, tho....wow!
-
*I liked the partner switch a lot more than I thought I would. It was cute how they are so loyal to their 'real' partners, but how new partners brought out different strengths in them too.
*Glad that the two weeks scores are combined, seems more fair with the switch.
* What's up with the music coming in wrong two different times?
* Still don't like Erin..."Why don't you make a baby, it would be so cute." Really? Gag!
* Didn't like Julianna's dress, but thought she judged fine.
* Honorable mentions to me: James & Cheryl, Charlie & Peta
* Perfection: Meryl & Val!
-
I like the combining of the scores with the switch. The switch really makes them show off different strengths. Nice.
-
only 7:30 here, half hour to go. News snippet: big switch, big drama. True?
