What was your Vitamin D level when diagnosed?

Interesting, read the BC website link moderators post above…my hospital has higher optimum level measurements, more like 60-80 vs 40-60…I guess there's some variety and no consensus.

A couple of months after my diagnosis, my levels measured below normal (20s). I've been supplementing 2000 IU daily (sometimes popping 3 or 4K as a bc friend takes 7,000 iu daily) and now my levels are in the 30s range.

Has anyone tried the cod liver oil pills or the light machine/heat lamp to see if they are better processed by the body?

I just got my VIt. D test results. I am at 43. That's pretty good considering that I had not been supplementing very much this winter, and the terrible weather kept me from getting almost no natural sunlight at all.

Personally, I like to test after the long winter months because then my
score reflects what my lowest value is and I supplement according to
that.

Since I already know that I don't have a problem raising my level up with oral supplements, for the next month or so, I'll take 2,000 IU on top of the 650-900 IU I get in my multi-vit. and my 1-2 Citracal tabs.; then probably won't take the 2,000 IU over the summer because I do make a point to get natural sunlight almost daily (when I walk or ride my bike,) I hope to wind up near 60.

My Vitamin D level was tested before I began my radiation, along with other blood work, and it was 22. I have been on Replesta 50,000 IU's since the summer. Unfortunately I live in the upper midwest near Chicago, where it's hard to find sun from November to May. My doctor said he'd like to see mine near 70.

What was your Vitamin D level when diagnosed?
