So worried, possible bone met
I post on behalf of my mother. It's been three years since her dx of stage 2 idc. She recently had knee replacement surgery and has been battling a uti since. Her back started hurting badly Friday night. Saturday we went to the ER. They did a ct scan of her pelvis. It picked up a part of her spine. The ER doc said the radiologist who read the scan notes that there was an area of bone erosion that could be a met. He further cautions that since she had taken letrizole it could simply be bone loss. I don't believe the latter. I am worried to death. She was in terrible pain and was administered morphine in the ER. All of her blood work and cultures came back normal. She is still having pain but not the same level. Her urine was clear but they still prescribed levaquin because she had a fever of 103. We have a copy of the scan and will call her oncologist tomorrow. I don't know what my question is. I just needed to share i suppose. Thank you for listening.

hi jyount,
I am so sorry to hear about your mom's difficulties. Letrazole can cause bone loss, so don't rule that out. I'm glad she'll be seeing her onc soon, as knowing is always better than not knowing. Please check out our family/caregiver forum as well as a stage IV thread titles (something like) not stage IV but have questions. Wishing your mom the best.

just signed up today , so not sure where to ask my questions . It falls under this category . Found on chest scan a sclerotic lesion involving the t2 vertebral body . Suspicious for osseous metastasis . Nuclear bone scan ordered. No pain , just finished 12 weekly taxol Before that A and C 4 treatments. Diagnosed with ibc and invasive ductal carcinoma . Also involving lymph node. All left side everything has shrunk , responding to treatments . Breast still swollen and thinking of skin . A Double mast. In few weeks with all lymph node removal. I'm hers 2 pos. Er pr neg Brac 2 . I'm scared because of recent finding of suspicious lesion . It was not there at last scan before treatment started . Is it possible to have cancer spread during treatment? There was a "spot" On liver the first scan, now it's gone. The two nodules in left lung are unchanged. With this very aggressive cancer and how fast it came up , I'm just scared . So I joined this forum after reading for months.

hi Mamajen60. Scared is normal, and you will most likely feel different levels of fear and anxiety through the course of your treatment. The best advise I took, after waiting and wondering for weeks, was to seek professional counseling. The weekly visits and meditation made all the difference to me. After I was done with treatment I added yoga to my life. If you have a best friend, this would be a great time to lean on him/her for support. I hope you find the inner strength to push aside these worries, and focus your attention on the goodness in your life.

thank you lissee for you advice. Strange how I can almost grasp it . I understand what you are saying and that would be the very thing I would tell anyone close to me in the same situation. I get the bone scan tomorrow , so this new thing can be resolved in a few days. It has been something every time I turn around and I have not come to terms (whatever that means). With cancer. I have counselors all around me and a great support team. I had to stop my gym for the duration of this. I miss that. At 61 I was so strong ran circles around younger people . I want to climb that mountain again. That's my goal. I want to be Me again.
