Starting Taxotere & Herceptin
Starting this combo in a week! Any advice?
My doctor said to get tylenol & advil for joint/bone pain. Anything else that would be helpful to get me through this. Doing 3 Taxotere every 3 weeks. Herceptin for 1 year.

Herceptin is a breeze....Taxotere hits harder but is doable. I'd also take claritin for bone pain if you get a neulesta shot the day after chemo. My worst SE from chemo was indigestion. I started out with over the counter anti-acid which worked for a while but finally asked my doc for something stronger. He perscribed Previcid which was a life saver!. I took it everyday as preventative and it knocked the reflux out. If I didn't take it I was miserable. Good luck....you'll do fine!

I'm just about done 4 rounds of herceptin and taxotere (last one this friday! Woo!). Herceptin was no big deal but the taxotere was tougher -I found it to be more tiring than anything else, but definitely doable. I just took ibuprofen for the muscle pain (my teeth ached too which was odd) and other than some stomach issues (which I think were more due to me also taking antibiotics at the same time during my lowest immune times), it hasn't been too bad. I found the first treatment was the hardest side effects wise, and the ones after that were easier for some reason. The only real frustrations I found were the exhaustion I get from the treatment, and the dry itchy eyes the random water retention I get for about a week...but still just annoying more than awful. I used Systaine eye drops to help with the dry eyes and tried to be active when I could (I have an exercise bike I try to hop on when I feel up to it) and it helps.
You'll do fine!

Thanks for the heads up on some of the symptoms you guys experienced.
I am worried about the tiredness. My DH is only taking 3 days off after treatment and I have a 10 month old to watch during the day. Eek! Hopefully I can do it!
I just keep saying.. only 3 more.. only 3 more!!

My wife is on cycle 3 of Taxotere, Carboplatin, Herceptin and Perjeta. She had severe stomach cramps on the first cycle. However the first week is bad but manageable, just feels weak and metallic taste in the mouth with no appetite. Slowly gets better in 2nd week. 3rd week is good, up and about doing things.
Expect, constipation some times or diarrhea kind of symptoms some times. It is mixed.
