I was a victim of those 100 miles.I live in Massachusetts.  I have no breast cancer history in my family. I was told by my NP that my breasts were dense and lumpy, but was never told that was a risk factor or that I ought to receive special screening. My mammos were clear. In 2012, at 47,  I felt a lump- but still NOTHING showed up on the mammo. I had an ultrasound and MRI and  found I had  stage 2B multifocal Er+, PR +, her2 +++ with micromets to 3 sentinel nodes.   If someone had referred me for an MRI earlier because of my dense breasts, I might have been dx at an earlier stage.  I'm praying we got it in time. And now I always tell my friends with dense breasts to a)advocate for mri  b)get breast screening at NCI cancer center.
