So here we go again

My story, 1st Mammogram at the age of 40 2005 DX Left
Breast with DCIS high grade with necrosis had 2 surgeries to get clean margins
had 35 treatments of RADS, started Tamoxifen, but stopped with Oncologist okay, because of side effects.

Then 2011 Dx with Right Breast DCIS high grade with necrosis with 3mm of IDC.  After 2 surgeries got clean margins, clean lymph nodes 0 of 3, 35 rads, started Tamoxifen, (no choice this time) in March 2012, which by the way wreaked havoc in my uterus, Endometrium thickness, uterine polyps, and multiple complex ovarian cysts had a total hysterectomy October 2013.  removed everything.  That’s another story.

As we all know whether to get a mastectomy for DCIS is such a difficult decision, but I thought since I had some IDC the surgeon would recommend a Mastectomy, but NOOOO…she said it was up to me.  Thanks a lot.

So I decided to keep my Right Breast after my 2nd DX in 2011, it was the hardest decision I ever made. My reason was pretty
simple I didn’t have any issues on my left side, and I thought ok let’s do the same treatment for right side.

Boy, I have regretted that decision I made back in November of 2011!  I have had nothing but issues.  My Right side has never felt “normal” again.  Of course I am comparing it to my left side.  Right Side is extremely swollen.  Anytime someone gives me a hug I cringe because if you hug me just right I get these pains at my surgical site.

So let me get to the good part, just had Mammogram, and MRI done yesterday.

And guess what, they saw something on my right side on the MRI.  Oh Joy.  Ultrasound scheduled for Monday 3/24.  Unfortunately I don’t know what they saw or where on my right side.  The receptionist  sounded like she was on her way out the door when she called me.

So as I obsess over the past decisions that I have made, and leading up to my appointments on Monday do I

1. Insist on a Biopsy even if they ultrasound is clear

2. Just bite the bullet and get a BMX

3. Or be a patient and see what they say, I know easier said than done

Thanks you ladies for listening to me RANT!  I think I just needed to type this all out as therapy!

Not sure I even posted in right topic discussion

Jo

Don't beat yourself up for your past decisions! You can't change the past. I think it would be best to wait for the test results and then even if they are negative go and talk to your BS and see what they would recommend. You are in my prayers!

bojo, I'm sorry you're dealing with this. First let me say that you've made the best decisions you could at that time you had to make them. 3 yrs ago at 36 I was Dx, and 2 months later my 34 yr old friend was too. We both agreed to never have regrets. Never 2nd guess previous decisions. We could all drive ourselves crazy doing this.

I must say I understand your pain. Mine has been so severe that I had a spinal cord stimulator implanted. Before making your decision about a BMX, mention to your doctors about the pain. I never reported mine and accepted it as normal. It's not if it's that bad. Tell your doctors. Don't suffer anymore.

As far as your upcoming results, a biopsy would give you peace of mind even if they want to wait. We can never be too cautious at this point.

Hopefully, whatever was seen is scar tissue or lipoma or other benign process. Whatever it is, you'll be in my prayers. Keep us updated.

    Hi Ladies,

Ultrasound was negative, she also look at an old MRI and it was there in 2011 with no changes.  She said it looked B9 on MRI but just wanted to make sure, that's why she ordered MRI.  So all good.  I am going to get this out of my head and have a great summer.  Mammo and 6 month MRI in September.
