Should I get 2nd opinion?
Hi, I just get diagnosis with cancer last 3 weeks ago. My symptomp is very different which I've tried to google search all over the 'breast cancer website', I couldn't find anyone that has the same symtomp as me. In March 2011, I started feeling 'burning' on my right breast espcially around my nipple for the whole day, then the next day was gone! Three years later, started pop up again on New Year of 2014, I start feeling the 'burning' for 5 days straight, then it went better. Other than that, my breast look normal, no lump, no discharge .... I did went to my family doctor, she found nothing but sent me to have mammogram just in case! After mammogram, they found a spot then order to have ultrasound, biopsy. I'm very curious if anyone has the same 'burning' symtomp like I had before? Should I consider to get second opinion on pathology report? Thank you all so much for support!

I did have a burning sensation prior to my dx, a couple of months prior and it was one evening and the next day it was gone. I never felt it again, and actually forgot about it until I felt the lump and was dx'd. The pain was very intense though, it was bad enough to cause me to have lay down. Have you had biopsy or just the mammo? What did the doctor tell you exactly? -
I had done the ultrasound and biopsy! It was HER2 positive!

I can't offer any insight into the burning sensation, but I can tell you that pathology is not always black & white. Often there are judgment calls, and two pathologists looking at the same slides may not always agree on what they're seeing. So it never hurts to get a second opinion, even if it reconfirms what you've been told, so that you feel more confident moving forward, and are sure you're on the right treatment path. When I got a 2nd opinion, the second facility found flaws with my imaging, pathology and recommended treatment plan. So I'm a big fan of second opinions. Good luck! Deanna

Hi, I did have a burning sensation on lump area. Mammo's are not always accurate at finding Breast Cancer. If your already going for an Ultrasound, then stay with that doctor. See what they say first before any biopsy. If they find something go ahead and get a biopsy. Keep positive and strong. Good luck!
