Hi coffeecup! I had a Mx and SNB for DCIS too about 15 months ago. I went home with PT exercises that I had to do 4 x a day, but no lifting anything over 2 kg, (5lbs) with that arm for several weeks and no stretching exercises, or movements, till after the drain was out.

I got full range of motion back, pretty fast, because I did the exercises religiously.

Many women go back to work fairly soon after the surgery, but few would have the physical demands that you have in your job.

My surgeon explained to me that I needed to take precautions, so that everything would heal internally, and there is always the possibility of LE from the node removal. I would probably get in touch with your Doctor and find out exactly what the requirements are.

Just keep in mind that if this is a recent surgery, you still have to get over the effects of the anesthetic too. You need to get rest to let everything heal, and there will also be some strange sensations, which come from the nerves regenerating. Try to take it easy for as long as is possible. I wish you all the very best!

coffeecup, you might be able to ask for an accommodation at your work if you feel like you can do some but not all of your duties.  Usually HR will not offer, you have to ask.  But take it e a s y and slow.

Thanks ladies. When I was out having my surgical Biopsy  my doctor told me I could go back on light duties my company says there is no light duties. I have been out since January 16,2014. I just had my Mastectomy February 10,2014 . I still have numbness under my arm and where my breast was. Just trying to see if anybody else had the same worry. Just trying to get my ducks in arrow. If anyone has had this problem please let me knows so I will know what I need to do. Thanks
