Soriya, I'm not sure what would make them that sore rather than numb........maybe you have developed some arthritis, possible rheumatoid as that sounds more like the pain you are describing. I know you are thinking mets but I have never heard of bone mets going to the fingers or below the elbow for that matter. It does need to be checked out though as it's not normal and needs to be sorted.

-
Soriya, I have no idea but it sounds more like an infection or some kind of inflammation or something.
-
Well, I'm officially scared beyond scared. I wasn't feeling well last week and went to the Dr. with a fever. Antibiotics. Then this Wed went back and he did some more tests and changed antibiotics. Still fevered. The Dr. called me tonight and it appears there might be a nodule on the upper left lobe of my lung, so he's sending me for an emergency CT scan tomorrow. Has anyone else dealt with this? My Dr said he's hoping it's scaring...I'm so upset.

Isthisforreal
I am so sorry you are having to worry about this. I have a tiny lung nodule that was found on my first ct scan. So many drs told me that they are very common and can pop up at any time due to inflammation or old illnesses. Of course that did not stop me from constantly thinking about for the 6 months I had to wait to be scanned again. I had another scan after chemo and it was exactly the same so they told me it was a granuloma. Now they check it every year. If you search lung nodule in this site you will see that so many if us have had this type of incidental finding. I had never heard of lung nodules before BC and now I have met about 6 people who have one. Usually they just do a watch and wait to see if anything happens if it is under 1cm.
Hugs to you.
-
IsThisForReal, take a big deep breath and let it go slowly....... Shoppygirl is so right..........there are many women with nodules in the lung and I'm another. It's good to get it checked out but there is just as much chance that it is benign as there is it is BC.
I know you are scared silly right now and that's fairly normal but also right now you are just guessing as to what it is and worrying over something that could be nothing. All though I know it's hard, try not cross any bridges before you get to them.

im one with a nodule, too, and they haven't even bothered to look at it, again, a year and a half later. hope it turns out all right, and they are just looking out for you very well.
-
Ladies, thank you so much for your encouragement. I had no idea that nodules were even common. I didn't use Dr. Google to research anything, but came straight here instead. You've helped ease my mind and I will keep you updated. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful wisdom with me. ((hugs))

Hugs to you too! Let us know what happens!!

Hi ladies,
So i had my appointment with MO today. He said he was not particularly worried but agreed that it shoudl be checked out, so he ordered a bone scan. Predictably, he thought it wouldnt take long for me to get in but actually my appointment is 2 weeks from now. Which is fine if it turns out to be b9, but otherwise ... sigh.
Anyway, keep us posted shoppy and good luck.
-
Cypher two more weeks will make no real difference to what the results will show so don't worry on that side of things but I hear you on the ' sooner would be better' for peace of mind.
Keeping everything crossed that it's a good result.

Chrissy, Hi, I came here because I've been miserable all weekend and worried. I woke up on Friday totally deaf out of my right ear, and feeling a little dizzy and nauseous. Went to my GP to have it checked for inner ear infection, but she was unable to see anything because of wax deep within the ear, and gave me somehting to dissolve it. I've been using it but still cannot hear, and a feeling of pain and pressure in the ear with a lot of head noise. I've been really worried that this could be a mets from the breast cancer with cerebellopontine angle metastasis along the cranial nerves going to the ear..
Has anyone heard of mets going to the cerabellum and inner ear? My whole head feels suddenly heavy with pressure. and dizziness and noise going to my ear. I don't know what this is.
Oceana
-
Oceana, please don't worry.......I had this same thing happen about six months ago. It is a virus that effects the auditory nerve. While it is annoying and you will feel nausea because of it as well as it is possible that you will also have a balance problem with it. Hopefully the hearing will return over time but it is also possible that it will leave you with some hearing damage as it has with me to the point I now need a hearing aide.
I know this is not good news but the fact that it is not related to mets can help you breathe easier.
Lve n hugs. Chrissy
-
Oceana, I completely agree with Chrissy. You should also follow up with your GP to see if the wax has cleared out; sometimes they need to actually flush it out, and the stuff he gave you just softens it so that it CAN be flushed out with a little water. I had this happen some years ago, and it was AMAZING how well I could hear and how well I felt after that wax was washed out! It is also good to have someone who knows what they are doing to actually flush (irrigate) the ear to get it out so there is no damage to the eardrum. Best wishes.
-
Can I just say what a godsend you ladies are? I read Oceana's email and thought, I would be going nuts with anxiety as well -- and then you two pop in with your oh so reassuring messages....

MorningI feel a little silly coming on here with my question, but here goes. I posted this on my TE trouble forum, but I figured I'd come here too because of the great knowledge.
So, over the last 4-6 days I've noticed that on my left side when I wake up it is very sore. When I get up it feels sore and tight, and it seems to be getting worse. Last night I ran my hand over the area and I feel a lump or a mound. It feels like it is coming from very close to my chest wall and feels rather large. I'm going to call my BS this morning for sure, but I'm kind of freaking a little. My first guess is this some sort of scar tissue...but my fear is that it is some kind of missed cancer or mets.
I have alot of extra skin/fatty tissue left over because of my failed TE's. Sooo..any thoughts on this or experience with this? The pain is not unbearable, but it feels like it is getting worse.
Thanks ya'll.

Tangandchris not knowing the full history it is possible that you have a developing seroma but a phone call to your doc is certainly in order. Hopefully he will have some good news for you and you can get it sorted quickly.
Love n hugs. Chrissy
-
What is a Seroma? I had a BMX with TE's that I had removed in January due to infection. Could a seroma still be an issue at this point? -
Tangandchris a seroma is a collection of fluid that the body produces to protect an internal wound and promote healing. It is still possible that because of the deep infection one has developed but I am not a doctor and it was only a suggestion.
Hopefully you will get answers from your doc soon.

Thanks Chrissy....I have an appt on Thursday afternoon. -
I am freaking out guys. I just had a chest x-ray yesterday and got called this morning that there are 2 nodules on it so i need a CT scan. I am 5 years out from my diagnosis of triple positive breast cancer with positive lymph nodes. Is there any way that this is not going to turn out bad?

BLUEBIRD, THERE ARE VERY FEW PEOPLE I KNOW WHO WOULD HAVE THE PRESENCE OF MIND TO MAKE SURE TO LEAVE CAMI IN THE CAR AS THEY GO INTO BRAIN SURGERY.. SORRY TO HEAR THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO REHOME SOME OF YOUR ANIMALS.. ANY POSSIBILITY YOU CAN JUST SEND THEM OUT FOR EXTENDED SLEEP OVERS?
PERHAPS WHEN YOU ARE FEELING BETTER, VINNY CAN DO SOMETHINKTHIS FOR YOU:
-
Blondie, we'll all be in your pocket for your scan (except Cami, because it has already been decided that it's best to leave her in the car). They found a nodule on my vocal chords today that is by all indications benign, and many lung nodules are, so yes, it can turn out fine, but we'll be there with you no matter what.
-
blondie, I personally haven't a clue, but I think some of the women on this forum were discussing this recently -- not sure if it's the same thing but it sounds like there are various b9 possibilities. try scrolling up a few pages? hoping it's nothing and your drs are just being cautious.

Thanks cypher

Blondie
I am sure that others will chime in but lung nodules are very common and can happen at any time. I have one that showed up on my very first ct scan. I had a rescan after chemo and it is the same so I was told that it was a granuloma. I do have it checked every year. Since it has been 5 years since your dx and I am assuming that you have not had a ct scan during that time. So many things could have happened to your lungs during that time that would have caused nodules. If they are small then they will just watch them every 3-6 months so see if they grow. If they grow, then they might want to biopsy them.
Hopefully the ct scan will give you some more insight it to what is going on.
Good luck and hugs.
