Headaches CT scan
I'm a month out from last chemo and have had headaches every day for three weeks. Have had some vision problems too. Can't focus my eyes, fuzzy spots. The feeling you get when you get up too quickly, except I get it even without getting up. Called the MO office, talked to a nurse. They said MO is on vacation, looked at my chart and said my issues are not from chemo and I should see my PCP. I should also mention that I did not get a 1 month post chemo chekup, probably because the MO is on vacation. Saw the PCP yesterday and had some bloodwork and getting a head CT scan on Thursday. The stress from the headaches is so taxing I want to get to the bottom of this so I can move on. Never had a CT scan before, they said no food, but they are scanning my head? I only had a breast MRI at the time of diagnosis.

Hi inks just wanted to write a note because I know how hard the waiting can be. I'm about one and a half year out and have had so many different symptoms since i ended chemo - headaches included. Mine have been sort of like migraine which I never used to have before sometimes with dizziness and blurry vision. They didnt think the symptoms were related to b.c. because it should start off and then just get worse.
I know of someone whom I talked to in a support Group who got Dizzy from taxotere as well. She was told it could be related to increased intracranial pressure due to chemo. I guess that could also lead to vision problems.
So while I don't have any answers just keep in mind it could be many other things. Best wishes.

Thanks new_direction! That's what my PCP told too that if the scan is clear we'll try some migraine meds. I would have felt way better if my MO nurse would have taken the time to explain what it could be rather than saying it could not be from chemo because I am a month out. Just can't wait to put this behind me.

My CT came back clear! Still have the annoying headaches and vision problems. Migraine meds and eye doctor next for me.

My wife had floaters for a while in vision while on Chemo. She was on taxol and perception at that time. She was also taking steroids for chemo during that time. If head CT is clear then probably a eye checkup would help.

hi inks i just checked my latest posts and noticed your - now old - post about your CT scan and wanted to send you a very late congratulation! My migraine is still there on/off but I have stopped worrying so much about it being cancer related.
Hope you are doing fine.

new_direction - sorry you are still having head aches. Mine are way better, the MO actually thinks they were caused by tamoxifen since they started around that time. Have you seen your primary care doc for the migraines? Mine gave me Topamax but it did not do much, but there are probably other drugs to try too. I hope your migraines aren't too bothersome.

Inks - great to hear you are feeling betterso your headaches just kind of disappeared without any intervention? reminds me of the quote by Voltaire: "The art of medicine consists in amusing the patient while nature cures the disease"
Actually my onc mentioned Tamoxifen as a possible cause of migraines as well but at the time I was too worried about taking a break from tamoxifen to see how I would do without it. Maybe I should reconsider...
