    Happy Anniversary!

Wow - they drugged you and didn't even ask.  I asked and didn't get - how things have changed - lol.

I was up at 4:30 because I happened to wake up so I decided to go to the bathroom and then while I was up, I check FB to see if DD messaged me.  Then I hopped on here to see what might be going on.  I breastfed my babies - though not for as long as might have been more beneficial.  Once they started eating babyfood, my milk production started to drop off.  If I could do it over, I would buy an electric pump and would have pumped more.  I had a battery operated one - didn't work as well as I needed it to.

I started breastfeeding because of the health benefits - and I was lucky to be home with them - for 6 months with DD.  It was so easy - time to feed?  Baby is hungry?  Just lift up the shirt.  I couldn't imagine having to worry about bottles and how to warm them.  I still don't know how to do that when out and about.

Christ....I had 6 and never breast fed any of them.... back then the  Dr. did not believe in breast feeding.......when i asked he said "I believe when you give a baby a bottle and your told 4 ounces, you can tell what 4 ounces is.......no guess work........everyone can't  breast feed, some babies can't.....some ladies do not have enough milk.....so the bottle is the way to go to be sure, and avoid any tramatic feelings of inadaquiciy (sp?)......so I listened.....it did make sense........I also asked about "bonding"........his answer was.....just hold your baby for every feeding......no propping......breast feeding has nothing to do with closeness........."breast feeding does not give you a guarantee of a child who will love you"...."its how you love that child that makes you close".........

Still wondered if he was right, but they were all very healthy....(thank God), and my kids are "too close" to me.......LOL, just kidding.......

But those lousy bottles......ugh....back then you steralized them....mixed formula....until finally them came out with playtex....and liquid formula.....most of my kids drank Similac......

    That  was many years ago.

My daughter tried to BF her first......he was 11lbs 12 ounces....he could n'ot latch on, and she could not find a position that he was comfortable............he's screaming, she's crying........feeling like a failure........I saidi "GIVE HIM A FRIGGIN BOTTLE"......that little boy just would not cooperate..........

My G.Grandaughters both have breast fed, but not for long......

omg - my son didn't latch on right - especially on my right side.  It hurt SO MUCH - it was being pinched on the end - actually bled. so I stopped for a few days and  pumped with my inadequate, battery powered pump.  I felt like I was going to explode.  I thought the thing wasn't working right until I realized it couldn't make proper contact because I was so full. So I had to hand squeeze some out into the sink in order to get the thing to work.  Finally he got the hang of it - but in the meantime.  OWWW!  The things we go through.

My mother bottle fed me - that's how it was back then.  Her doctor also wanted her to go on a diet when she was pregnant with me.  It didn't seem right to her, so she didn't do it.  Good thing - I was only 4lbs 10 oz when I was born.  AND she weighed only one pound more than before she got pregnant when she went home from the hospital.

I think I remember my grandmother saying that she had so much milk, when she was finished breastfeeding my uncle, she gave milk to one of her doctor's patients who had had twins...

I had great difficulty with breast feeding, then got mastitis, then quit.  Never looked back.  But many years later, I did wish I had kept trying.

I've got one of those really painful hangnails, even typing hurts!!!

Tomorrow, I'm going to take another stab at adding images here.  The Voice is on, so now is out :)

That puppy is almost as cute as your grandson!  We are having a couple of very nice, sunny, warm days in the low 60's.  Soon to have more monsoons.

You are very lucky to be around your children and grandchildren :)

Yesterday I had a little thing removed from my nose.  It's fine and all is good.  But my nose is freaking huge this morning, I mean I could compete with Karl Malden or Jimmy Durante right now :)

Nose still big and swollen but I removed the larger, snowball shaped bandage this morning and while it's still covered with steri strips and stitches, it seems good.

Today I've been working on theme/decor for my FIL's 90th birthday party.  I have some skills, but perhaps not enough.  I hope some local friends volunteer to help :)  No clue how to put pics on a slide show with music, for example.  Since he's 90, the theme is obviously vintage :)

    How are you all doing?

I want dessert badly.  DH had to go up to shovel out the cabin which means he will do a little shoveling and then go fishing.  DD is out with her BF.  If I go to the store to get dessert, I'll scare someone, so I'm with you Sheila.  I want to slap someone because I don't have sweets.

    My nose issue :)  Haha.

Come on sweet little girl, join your family and loving sweet grandmother.

Ducky, thanks for the Anniversary wishes (above).
Your grandson is so cute (how old?) and the puppy so adorable.
..looks like I haven't been around heremuch.  What a week, and what a Friday.  Ran a workshop with 3 others.  It went really well but oh, the hell of it planning with someone who seems very bipolar...aggressive emails to me - 6

94 8 the night before giving me tasks to do so I stay up until 1 AM, did the task, printed it, then had to get up at 5 and drive an hour....only to find out the the witch-bitch did the task herself as well.  I could have gotten 2 more hours sleep.
Diane, so glad you are recovering from your surgery.   Sounds like it went well.  Glad it's behind you.
I have only a little patch of snow left in my yard.  I can't remember thelast day we were snow free.
Tomorrow is our little town's big st. Patricks Day parade...I need a kid!  Nobody will be coming...we are still deciding whether to go or just get out of here for awhile.  Retail therapy sounds good.
I go to Tampa in 2 weeks and need some clothes.
It makes me sad to hear of the mis-information that doctors gave out to new moms.  I worked for 25 years as a breastfeeding counselor (volunteer) to "undo" the damage and mis-information that docs were providing way back (and yes, even today).
I bottle-fed my first and she is fine...breastfed the 2nd but like Diane, I got mastitis and had a fever and so much pain ... I stopped but then I became determined to go back to breastfeeding. It was difficult but only took a few days to bring back the milk. I had to do it on my own...doctors told me to quit.  I couldn't - I cried day and night until it finally worked.    I nursed DD#2 for about a year - then had DD#3 when #2 was 19 months ...
DD#3 was in NICU for 21 days...born with only one lung.  I hand-pumped my mild with a little pump and brought several bottles a day into NICU.  The docs were amazed at how the mild color changed over the 3 weeks.  I nursed DD#3 for well over a year after she got home.  It is a good thing because she refused solid foods for about a year.
Grandma Sheila, I am so excited for you.  When you see that little baby, you will discover love all over again in a way you've never felt!  It's awesome.

    Happy week end...

Arrrgh - I hope you don't have to work with that person again, Joan.  So frustrating!

    (((((((Sheila)))))))

Diane, I think dessert places should have delivery.  But then again, it's my laziness that has saved me from eating as much dessert food as I otherwise would have if they delivered...lol.

Joan.......that grandson is 15 years old......he is a sophomore in HS, and plays varsity golf......one of the nicest, loving, compassionate boy I have ever know....he is just wonderful...loves his mother dearly and thinks nothing of just hugging her for no reason....such a devoted son...........now he has a sister....LOL...........she is a spitfire.......can't describe her......also very loving but in a different way.......very thoughtful, but a look from her can say  "guess who doesn't give a shit".....but very sensitive ......her and I are lot water and oil, but I think that is because I took care of them both from when they were babies while my daughter went back to work......so that means keeping the parent's rules in tact.......saying "no" when I had to, and being the one upholding the rules.......plus I was replacing her mother every morning.........hurts to watch her make such a fuss over the other grandmother who does "shit" for her, other then show up once in a while......ok I'm done......as I remember you just asked his age right.............

Sheila our gonna love being a grandparent......

Diane.....get that dessert save your sanity......

Maybe that's one of the reasons I got BC...Who knows

I need a walk at the beach with someone who enjoys it as much as I do

I'm into withdrawal and we live few minutes away from all the local beaches and parks on LIS

I need heavy chocolate eating today...

thank You for all the good wishes

I, too, am lounging in bed.  LOVE having it to myself this morning but wouldn't want that every morning.  I have coffee and a croissant.  When I was craving last night, I went digging int he fridge in the kitchen and in the garage and found some Trader Joe's frozen croissants with chocolate inside.  Took those out to rise and baked them this morning.   MMMMMM.

Joan - nasty little co-worker you have there.  I know you must be really missing DD's and GC - it would be so hard to be able to go see them - your self control is impressive.

I was skyping with my GD yesterday and having a delightful chat when her mom announced that she had to take an urgent call.  Ten minutes later she posted a picture of the girls skyping with HER father.  I suppose the influence of loser's is more valuable.  They talk with him every single day - I have to text my son to ask him to ask her to pick up my calls to visit.  DIL's suck.

OMG Diane..........don't mean to offend...........but she sounds like a real bitch...........you are better then me girlfriend.........I know, I know........been down that road myself.........but how shitty is that to do that to you............I would like; to go beat the shit out of her myself.............having been there brings out the nasty in me...

Worst thing was my son was allowing it.......did not get better till my daughters had babies.......what a change......by then....I didn't care anymore.......funny thing as I might have said before........now my DIL can't get enough of me, and is very thoughtful to me......but I remember those years well.....

Today she does not even speak to her mother, and it is years........and my GD's are close to me...we talk all the time.........see the sun doesn't always shine on one dogs ass.............your day will come.........

Also don't worry about your son getting upset with you if you say something to him or her......believe me.......they deserve to be told........he should now allow it........mine did, so I thought "well your just as much to blame".........control your bitch wife........
