Hair loss and periods

Options

Hi, I have a couple of questions I'm hoping you all could help me with. :)

I started AC exactly 11 days ago and my hair has yet to show any signs of falling out. I had a big ole party and shaved my head the weekend before my first chemo, so I'm ready as I'll ever be. Wouldn't that just be the way if I'm one of the lucky ones who's hair doesn't fall out?! But 11 days is still kind of early right? Should I expect it to fall out soon?

And how soon did you notice changes in your periods? Like I said, I've only had the one chemo (AC) 11 days ago, but it's already messed with my cycle and delayed my period. I'm very crampy and have abdominal pain, just like always when I'm about to start, but no sign of flow. I track my cycles very closely and I'm 2 weeks late…which is a first for me. Usually I'm like clockwork. (No, I am not pregnant. :) Could the chemo have an effect this soon? I'm 33, and although I'm not perimenopausal, I do have Diminished Ovarian Reserve, which is basically old, crappy eggs. I'm curious if just that one chemo could throw me into menopause so quickly? I have been having night sweats the last few nights, if that helps to know.

Thanks so much and I wish you all the very best each and every day!

my MO told me usually after the 2nd treatment, hair starts to fall....is that you in your avatar? you got beautiful hair...

chemo kills your cells and it takes about 10 days to regenerate..so it sounds possible chemo stopped your period temporarily.

Thanks, yes, that's me. And my hair actually started to fall out today as a matter of fact. And I did end up getting my period, but I have a feeling that will be my last one for a while. Thanks for your kind words. All the best to you. :)
