hi everyone - a week ago I noticed a small red spot about a pencil eraser size on my right areola.. It is not sore or itchy.. Went to dermatologist that gave me a cream. She said it looks like eczema. Now a week later still there still same size and starting a different cream with a steroid in it. Went to my breast specialist who said same thing an eczema. No other symptoms. No history of breast cancer. Just wanted opinions.

Patty, you've been here before, with other concerns, and you've mentioned that you have a lot of anxiety.  It sounds as though you are dealing with your anxiety issues again.

It's good that you got this checked out but if both a dermatologist and breast specialist say it's eczema, then it's probably eczema.  With no symptoms of IBC, there is no reason to be thinking IBC and going down that path of concern. You need to give the meds a chance to work - eczema can be stubborn.

Bessie's right!  No 'symptoms'of IBC and a Dermotologist AND a Breast Specialist both say eczema.  Use the meds given and if that particular one doesn't work there are other ones.  Skin conditions can take a while to completely resolve.  IF every reddened area in the breast area were IBC - then tjere would be a LOT more BC and IBC would account for most of the diagnosed BC .  Wrong - IBC is only between 1% amd 5% of all diagnosed BCs combined.

Perhaps an appt with your mental health team is in order to re-evaluate where you are now and perhaps adjust your meds.
